Fancy a change from a Samsung but if the S5 kills the 5c then not that much.
Why not a iphone 5S? Its £5 extra a month.
Plenty of comparisons out there

What are you coming from? I went from the S3 to the Nexus 5 which is great. Not top top specs but handles things very well. Bought outright cheaper than most options too. Nexus 6 coming out soon which I guess will be priced in line with the Nexus line and be really competitive.
Also I can't believe how small iphones look and how small the screen is!
Edit# Just seen you meant the 5Cheap which isn't as good as the 5s which is what most people are comparing the S5 etc. too.
I've got a 5C from work and a iPhone 5S as my own.
If work had given me the 5C before I'd bought the 5S, I probably wouldn't have bought it. In day to day use, there's nowt in it. The 5C is a nice phone, and surprisingly the plastic back makes it nicer to hold and use than the metal and glass of the 5S. It's also a smidgen lighter.
Ultimately, the choice depends on the eco-system you've already bought into. I've been an iPhone user since day one, so if I switched to Android there would be a substantial investment in replacement apps.
5c really nice to hold. Only tangible difference with the 5s is the lack of a fingerprint scanner. The 5s is fractionally faster but it's barely noticeable.
As for the Samsung its horses for courses but I keep trying android and keep hating it compared to ios. I've learned my lesson now and won't be switching again.
my contribution is theyre probably both decent but....

I'm currently using a 5C and considering a swap to an S5 purely for the bigger battery but friends tell me the S5 is very power hungry anyway so not much in it.
Performance wise the numbers point to the S5 being more powerful but the 5C is an excellent day to day phone and I'm a very very heavy phone user.
The plastic is nice and the apple cheese grater cases are actually really nice to hold in the hand and help you grip the phone a lot better.
iPhone 6 is due in September and will feature a larger screen (2 models due slightly larger and quite a bit larger than current). If you want the larger screen then wait for the 6. It would seem likely that Apple will continue the C range with a guess being that the 6C will be more like the 5S in terms of power. I don't think there is that much between the 5S and 5C, certainly not in usable everyday terms
So if you can wait then I would suggest you do so whilst keeping an eye out for any discount offers on the 5S/C.
have you tried putting the samsung in your shirt pocket?
its not a small phone.
Thanks for that 😀
I was about to fall into fashion-phone'ing.
The LG G3 looks 😯 possibly the best?
Don't get the 5C. Nice phone, but basically a repackaged 5.
Option B - a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact/Z2.
Sony z1 compact, a mate had to send 2 Samsung's back as they were faulty he's now got a z1 compact and he's much happier.
Oh and don't forget the Nexus 6 is out in Oct/Nov too.
I got sick of massive phones, so upgraded ro the sony xperia z1 compact. Its ace, cheaper than i was paying for my last ( and this came with 4G contract and 3gb data). Through carphone warehouse.

You might like to think of buying an unlocked iPhone 5 second hand when the 6 comes out. Then get an all-included contract at £12-ish a month
If you fancy a change from Samsung then why not something like LG or HTC to stay Android, or even Nokia for a Windows phone? I don't think any of the phones 'kill' each other, but there are differences which you may or may not like.
Steveoath - I like the sound of this:
the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact really has everything going for it. It’s a rather heavy phone, weighing roughly 137 g, but this likely is a direct result of the Xperia Z1 Compact’s IP55 and IP58 certifications. In other words, Sony’s phone is water resistant, drop resistant and dust resistant.
The 'issue' for me is is the Xperia a better phone than my Samsung S3 mini? I can call my phone 'rugged' - if it breaks now I'm out of contract so no biggie. I want a phone that blows the doors off my S3 mini though as an upgrade. If I had an old brick I'd be in a different conundrum.
I've gone from an S3 to iPhone 5s and not going back, but then I've got an iPad and Air all linked up to each other now, it's one of the reasons for morphing into an IOSBouy.
The 5s is small and powerful enough for me, it fits easy into a back pocket when riding and light enough to become almost no bother carting it around.
I may go for a 6 when they come out, will wait until Xmas though when real world review have come out.
The Samsungs aren't small, light but quite large phones.

Who actually does this!?!? Shirt pocket is not a suitable phone holding pocket. Bloody daft.
I love my Iphone 5S.
It fits in my pocket too.
I don't want to carry a phablet!

I know. Where would ones pens live.
LG now coming top in tests, depends on screen size. I now find iPhones too small.
Im going to put my 80gb Xperia Z2 on here later today if anyones interested?
Monster phone but I miss IOS!
If you have, or plan on getting, other Apple kit then an iPhone (it plays nice together as an eco-system).
Otherwise, has to be a Nexus and cheap rolling contract, surely.
I'd go with the one that allows memory expansion at very little cost.
Customised Nexus 5 here. As I'v said before, I hate Android out of the box (even Kit Kat) so I tweaked mine in the first 24hrs of ownership and I'm well happy with it. Was an iPhone user for the 4 years previous.
I use the N5 heavily and it's still as super fast and crash-free as day one.

Not really that impressed with the S5. I was torn between the xperia z2, HTC One M8 and the LG G3. I ended up going for the LG G3 as I think it has the best all round package of big replaceable battery, amazing screen, minimal bloatware and a good camera.
