Got my macbook pro on friday and just been moving photos and stuff over from my PC. At the moment i've copied a few folders over to the desktop of my mac. When I import these into Aperture, is it referencing to the those folders on the desktop or is it making copies?? Not sure how/where to check. Cheers!
can't you choose to import them from your desktop into aperture as managed files, i.e. the masters are kept in aperture library. i thought that was the default but can't see a simple managed-v-referenced option in aperture preferences.
Otherwise leaving aside what happens when you try to import in the future can't you import the desktop file into aperture, select images in the viewer/project panels, then on the file menu select consolidate masters?
edit--RELOCATE masters
Cheers guys. They were automatically going in anyway so no worries! Just wanted to make sure before i deleted them off desktop. Thanks!
In HELP Aperture users manual page 98 gives a good summary.
I went to aperture via a year on iphoto so it's all a bit hazy how it got set up.
It's worth setting up aperture vaults on a couple of external drives as a backup.
