£50 England win the Ashes

When? In this series? Good lord... Monty and Anderson manage to face a few overs without doing something stupid, Ponting maybe makes a bad call in continuing with the spinners for too long, and all of a sudden England can win the Ashes? As RichPenny rightly points out, we took 19 wickets to your 6 on a very batsmen friendly pitch... your top order is spineless, some of their dismissals today were laughable given the task at hand...

I'll take that bet mate, I reckon the odds are in my favour! Let's keep in touch over the next few weeks shall we? 😀

Apart from Collingwood that is, he's a class act and understood what needed doing today for England... excellent knock (though again, his dismissal was weak)

Of course the batsmen being rubbish in one match is a sure sign they'll be rubbish in the rest of them

Not sure i can see us winning at Lords - we never do well there, as it doesn't help our bowlers much - but at least we won't be in danger of going 2 down if our batsmen are all rubbish again.

If we were to play Test Match cricket instead of 20 20 cricket we may stand a chance.
The Crims had got their head around what needed to be done and fair play to them, they did it well. Their openers played themselves in and intended to stay, going to take a lot even to be competitive. I'd give him the cash now.

Certainly didn't perform well under pressure. You could level that accusation at your bowlers too though, especially Johnson.

The way I see it, we played too excitedly on the first day, especially losing those two late wickets. Didn't then allow Freddie to open the bowling to put you under pressure early on. Great innings by Ponting and Haddin, coupled with some poor bowling. Too many risky shots played in the second innings, but then the great escape...

God I love cricket. In no other game could you be second best for FOUR DAYS and still emerge with your heads held high 🙂

ah, but the press/public/cricketers were so confident and cocky on the the morning of Day 2... ...........

..........then it's 30 odd overs to take some wickets tonight before winding up proceedings tomorrow

Seems that you were the cocky one. Wrong with it. Loved the whinging reaction of Ponting in the press conference too.

England will have to raise their game in just about every department to win the series, another display like that and we'll be one down.

Nice to see that Ponting is still as gracious as ever. I think we saw the true state of aussie cricket over these five days. In the past that would have been a comfortable win for the baggie greens, but time has passed and this crop of bowlers aren't a patch on the old lot.

Not read every post, but would Ponting have played the last few overs any differently to England had the scores been reversed?

Good on you England - had to giggle at that result.

How's that wager progressing fellas?
I'd never write off Australia 'til the fat lass warbles, but she's certainly warming up.
