Care to recommend me a book that explains it for idiots?
I didn't say dummies because that book is from about 2003 i think.
Cs3 btw
just me then?
don't bother with a book, get online and watch some video tutorials. Also try lynda.com / lyndalearning + the adobe site itself for additional resources.
Yeah, online videos are the way.
Just search YouTube whenever you get stuck.
What are you having problems with?
The latest versions probably worth the upgrade cost btw, I find whichever one we have cs4 I think) much nicer to use than the older one.
Premiere user here.
I used Youtube to search for things I wanted to do.
As above, what are you trying to do, we may be able to help?
Thanks guys, very kind. I got off to a good start with youtube tutorials for splicing the footage together - but then I stalled when it came to how to save in a format I could upload to web.
Suppose the next step is titles, basic effects and adding music.
I'll have a go using web tutorials and come back for help if I get stuck.
🙂
CS5/CS5.5 is a lot easier to use than CS3, you haven't got to worry about video formats being the same type and things. It really does make things easier.
All the things you want to do are very simple in CS5, pretty much drag n drop.
I was only using CS3 because I got it when I set up my business a few years ago.
If thinking about upgrading that I might as well consider other alternative packages too.
Which is a much bigger can of worms!
If you can get CS5 on the cheap, then get that...
Sony Vegas is supposed to be very good for the price. I can't really comment as I have only used CS5 as it does everything, and is quite simple to use.
If by upload to the web, you mean for YouTube or similar, they take a surprisingly large number of formats, at jolly high resolutions, and they do the putting down to low res from your high res file for you. So personally I always just upload any old format, at high quality to YouTube and let them sort it out.
I think pretty much anyone at a sort of semi-professional level nowadays seems to use premiere or final cut, we have both at work and they are much of a muchness, although you need a mac for final cut. Premiere has better support for consumer level hd cameras though.
just put a post on here asking one of the many designers to do the work for you, most of hem are more than happy to do it as they see work as a challenge and thus don't usually want to get paid for it.
I'm all good for pie charts thanks.
I tried Premier pro and hated it. Found it too complicated. I ended going back to Windows Live Movie Maker.
