I'm looking at upgrading the ram on my ibook and a friend has an older model with a stick of ram that might work but we're not sure.

Mine is a 1.33 GHz 12" ibook, his is the older 1.0 GHz version.

Looking on Crucial it recommends this one for me:

It recommends this one for his:

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=B20F277EA5CA7304

And this is the one he actually has going:

Now, to me they all appear identical apart from part numbers.

Anyone know whether they are the same or whether there is some hidden difference that we're missing?

No reason why any 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2700 333MHz chip won't work in either, so you should be fine with those. I'm not sure why they have different part numbers - should be the same thing.

That's what we thought but just a bit confused by the part number thing and it's making me a little paranoid about fitting my friend's one.

It's so that they can track which machine it's destined for- I guess it's easier that way to keep their compatibility list up-to-date.
