MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I fear I may be turning into my dad.
Recently when I've been buying exciting things like vacuum cleaners I've done a bit of web research and keep coming back to the Which website but as I'm not a subscriber I can't see the reviews.
Am I missing out?
I had a sub when they had a special offer but cancelled after the three months. I think they charge over £7 per month, no way is that good value IMHO.
Their reviews are fine but some are very out of date and I found I could get equivalent reviews elsewhere on the net for free. Consumer feedback sites where quite handy too.
My consumer review of Which? Save your money & spend a little time searching the net instead.
As above, it's way too expensive. Some good reviews but I realised when they reviewed stuff I know a little about that the weighting they give to some categories I just did not think important - what they thought was a 'best buy' I might consider average.
It's worth doing the 3 month trial for a £1 (assume they still do that) but otherwise I think looking at the reviews on Amazon and other site are just as valuable.
p.s. check out your local library - many used to have Which but I wouldn't be surprised if they had stop with cost cutting.
Very poor and disappointing.
Reviews were either very old or inconsistent and few and far between.
Higgo - mail me
I did for about a year before I realised that of the half dozen mag subs I had it was by far the biggest rip-off 😕
Some libraries have them.
I have a subscription, I don't care that it costs me more than I save through using it, as I now know that I own The Best of everything.
TSY (31 & my Dad now rings me to get my Which reviews)
[edit] it also means I have a resource for winning argumemts about vacum cleaners on STW... that's priceless [edit]
I now know that I own The Best of everything.
Do you honestly have that much faith in their tests? I often didn't think their idea of what was best matched my own.
We took it out to help with pushchair and various baby shopping bits.
I was first concerned when reading about one pushchair being slated for being too heavy, yet another, a full kilo heavier, was applauded for being lightweight.
Hmmm, I need to buy a new vacuum cleaner that deals with pet hair - WHICH one should I buy?! 😉
Miele Cat & Dog TT 5000 (S5261)
R_B that's heresy! May you suffer the eternal damnation of water marks on your glasswear, slow heating of your iron and poor suction on your vacum cleaner. May you go forth in this world believing the marketing spiel of Dyson and choose a homecare service that consistantly fails to turn up at the alloted time. I'll let you choose tyres for your car that have a below averarge stopping distance in the wet, a broadband service that never gives you the promised download speed, stain removers that can only cope with 90% of all know stains and a TV with less than adequate picture quality.
For I walk in the light of Which consumer removes, I use the best, because that is what they say, and therefore the best is what it is!

+1 for Higgo.
No word of a lie, this is uncanny. I was looking at vacuum cleaners online yesterday as yet another of our 'good value' ones has bitten the dust (no pun intended 😉 ) and I'd come to the conclusion that the best one for our needs was the...
Miele Cat and Dog TT 5000 (S5261)
(Best price I found was at John Lewis - £185).
See, who needs Which magazine when you've got STW??
Oh, I hadn't appreciated they were that good. Obviously I need to reassess my whole outlook on Which, thank you Southern Yeti. Now, Which? tyres do they recommend for tubeless?
I lost faith with Which many moons ago when they tested some MTBs, they didn't take into account cost differences and generally didn't have a clue.
Think it was a Raleigh Lizard vs some higher end Marin.
I just look on the net for reviews.
