Rather foolishly I cracked the lid of my top box on a carpark barrier. Crack isn't massive (100mm) and has been waterproofed with gaffer tape as a temporary measure. Was thinking that I could repair it with fibreglass.
Has anyone tried this?

Soldering iron.... That's all you need. Just melt it back together.
Works on motorbike fairings as well.
Will try that to stop the crack propogating. Got a piece the size of a 50p missing though.
plumbers glue for grey plastic works on some top boxes, chemical soldering iron.
I'd probably look at plastic bumper repair stuff
Get some alu sheet, maybe a cut up drink can and glue it inside the box fixed with a few pop rivets. Worked for my bike box after Air France wrecked it and bought me a new one.
How about drill holes and "stitch" it together with little cable ties?
Get some High Speed Tape (think thick aluminium sellotape!) - used on aircraft as a temporary fix.
A few layers of fibreglass on the inside would be very easy, if you are fussy you could show it a little filler and rattle can paint if it's a gloss finish.
You may find fibre glass doesn't stick if it's Polly.

buy a bigger car and put it all inside
Welded up using a soldering iron and a bit of plant pot.
Don't care if it looks like shit as long as it holds and keeps the water out.

I did this once and just ran a bead of sikaflex polyurethane sealant down the underside of the split. Worked fine.
Welded up the inside too (nearly choking on the fumes). There's quite a lot of plant pot fused to it now.
Looks good, not really noticeable if you didn't know. Top job.
