my brother bought me a stirling engine kit for christmas:

http://www.stirlingengine.co.uk/ks90-black-ltd-30-p.asp

its a low temp engine and runs off hand heat or a mug of tea, or a block of ice.

Anyway, i'm after a small metal disc about 9-10 cm diameter and about 1cm high to sit the engine on (like in the video on the linked page) so i can heat the disc up in hot water then sit the engine on that as a neater solution than my mug of tea!

If someones got something suitable they dont want then let me know 🙂

cheers

Could you not glue 10 CD's together? might look cool.

Nope, but I can probably help you with the block of ice!

Tin of shoe polish? Leave the wax in it and it should hold plenty of heat.

Get one of those USB powered mug coaster / warmer things ad have it run all day?

EDIT: Bugger too late - that's what happens when you get dragged into kids homework!

dumbell weight sounds like a good idea i've got a small metal one so i'll try that!

Am still amazed at how it works and how fast it spins 🙂
