I need to fit an M8 rivnut.

Nowhere in Stirling has one to hire, I bought a cheap one and it did not work - the tool deformed rather than squished the rivnut.

I don't really want to pay out £150+ for a decent one, for one rivnut...

Beer / choccy / favours owed in return. Of course I will collect or pay postage.

Cheers.

Tried your LBS? Mine had one but is unfortunately nowhere near you.

If it's just the one this method is fine...

It does become a bit tiresome if you've 100's to fit which is where the proper tools are really worth it.

I have one that I am happy to lend. I bought it to fix a loose bottle boss on a ti frame. My email is in profile if you need help.

Cheers.

I had no idea they were that expensive 😯

Tried your LBS?

My thoughts too. Only last month I did a deal with my extremely helpful LBS, I drilled the holes and then took the bike to them so that they could fit the rivnuts. They charged me for the rivnuts plus a few pence labour which I was more than pleased with.

Actually I wasn't paying full attention to that first link, this is a better method, and the one I have used in the past....

Less likely to get a problem with a spinning rivnut as the bolt doesn't turn in the rivnut when tightening. And it's not too fiddly if the bolt isn't too long.

Cheers all. One bolt, one nut, two big washers and a weener wibbly one, plus a borrowed second 13mm spanner, and some muscle workout=rivnut on and boot now stays up.
