Just bought a 3yr old Passat after someone wrote off my old (08) one. The new one doesn't seem to show an indication on the dash when the lights are on. I'm sure the old one did.

Not such a problem when I've switched them on, but this one has auto lights, so I've no idea if they have switched themselves on. Is this right?

Also I've got an iPod connector in the glove box, but get so much distortion that its not worth listening to. Sounds fine with radio or CD. Is this a common issue?

My VW is the same. Just leave the lights on auto, the system works really well (unlike the auto wipers)

Cheers Ross, that puts my mind at rest a bit. Yeah noticed wipers were a bit random ๐Ÿ™„

I have a VW Tiguan and there is nothing to show the lights are on when on auto. They seem to work well but I think some indication to show they are on would be useful.

I have a 2012 passat no fuzziness through the iPod Dock at all. Pretty sure something lights up when the auto light sensor is activated. I'll have a look later when it's dark. My auto wipers work fine too.

You have to reset the wipers(off the back to auto) when you turn the car on and off, my renault and the Alfa both have the same strange quirk

I've got a 61 plate Passat. Current model.

Auto lights, there is a small (fairly dim) level of illumination around the lights control knob that shows if the lights are on auto, or not.

Auto wipers, work fine for me. Never had any randomness (touches wood). I don't need to switch mine off and on, they are always on auto. I did used to have to switch them off and on in previous VAG cars though.

Ipod dock, mine is in the glovebox but I did have some issues with crackling at first. I found that disconnecting it, making sure it was clean and very well connected sorted it out.

If you can't get on with the ipod you could get a usb adaptor cable for your MDI connection in your glove box and just plug a 64gb usb pen drive into it.
