Hi all,
Had some medical treatment while in the US over summer. Gave the hospital my insurance details at the time.
On my return to the UK, I got a bill for $65, which I paid myself as it was more than the insurance excess.
I have just got a bill for an additional $1700.
Just checked the small print for Virgin insurance, and it says that if I don't inform them before I receive treatment they don't have to pay out. I was in a lot pain at the time and went to the nearest hospital (yes, small violin please ๐ ), so ringing the UK was the least of my worries.
Anyway - I'm going to ring Virgin tomorrow and see what they say - but has anyone got any experience with this kind of thing? Am I going to be out of pocket, or is there some wiggle room?
Ta,
Duane.

Not going to be helpful at all, but that seems harsh. What if you've been knocked out/unconscious?
Usual reason as a service user to ring the service providor is so they can negotiate with the other service providor a better deal or cheaper treatment etc.
Probably expect a bill,
