Started coughing yesterday. Now got the shivers and back pain that kept me awake all night.

WT actual F?

This isn't a cold, this is Rochdale Ebola.

😆

Spent all bank holiday weekend taking turns with the Mrs rushing to the toilet and taking shifts looking after the little one, who is also ill. Bad times. Feel a bit better today, just in time to go back to work! All my bank holiday riding plans ruined! Agh!

Bring on the weekend.

Yep, had my Easter Ruined by a very sudden onset cold which laid me low for 3 days. Gutted, had the Caravan loaded, roof rack on ready for the bike then---wham! end of Easter.

Week 4 of a chronic fatigue down for me. Going to start graded exercise to get back to health soon. Maybe a short walk this pm to get going. Maybe a very gentle flat ride tomorrow. I'm planning to do Charlie's Gravel Dash at the end of May, but the gap between a short walk and 100 miles on a bike seems quite large right now.

Bilateral fracture of the 5th metatarsal.
Looking at 4 weeks in moon boots and at least another 4 weeks before I can get back to contact sports.
cabin fever has set in already.

Sod's law here. Spent most of the winter super-healthy somehow avoiding all the illnesses that my kids picked up and passed on to Mrs Wilko. Now the sun is blazing, the trails are already dry round here and I've got a god-awful stinking cold. Pah!

Nope, no symptoms like that but I do feel a bit knackered.

This is entirely due to the amount of riding I'm doing though 😆

Don't feel sorry for me will you 😛

I have some symptoms related to, basically, running at full speed into the ground down a skate ramp on saturday night. Kids' parties- not even once.

Sounds like what I had last week. It's grim. The fever wasn't too bad but my throat was so bad I couldn't talk for 4 days and could barely swallow. Still got a chesty cough now 10 days after coming down with it.

yep I had the pleasure of that a couple of weeks ago. lasts a couple of weeks, during which a different bit of your body will be really painful on a daily basis, except back and head which hurt everyday.

I feel shattered; a couple of easy road rides and some light DIY followed by a bad night's sleep and I'm pooped. Wish I was 30 again.

Think yourselves lucky.

Ive not really had more than 4 weeks in a row on the bike for over a year. Various bad colds etc

At Christmas I got Pneumonia (for the 2nd time in 4 years) and found out on a visit to the docs 2 weeks ago, and after tests that I still hadnt got rid of it. 🙁

No wonder I felt like sh!t

it will definitely last a couple of weeks.
my lady friend has the same thing currently, and has suffered to varying degrees for the last fortnight.

it's Crumpsall Flu though, just so you know...

My offspring have had this for a week now but I've (so far) managed to avoid it. Prestwich black death is what I'd heard....

After about two months of wheezing and generally feeling like **** going uphill, on the flat and down, it was lovely to get halfway across Barden Moor today and still feel like I had some power in my legs.

Rode into work today from the campsite, first ride in a few weeks. Beautiful day, felt great, planned a long ride back through the lovely countryside.

"Honey, I'm by your work do you want a lift home? The kids want to see you."

[s]No, I bloody well don't want a lift[/s] "Yes dear, I'd love to see you all 90 mins earlier than planned"

Easter has been written off here too. One of the side effects of the prostate template biopsy is UTI. This duly set in on Saturday. So that's a week of no drinking too. I did manage to ride for 3km today, needed a lie down after though.

Yep. Spent the Easter break alternating between coughing up lumps, vomiting, squitting and very occasionally sleeping.
2nd week in now & it doesn't appear to be shifting.

Yes.

Started last Wednesday. Woke up with the beginnings of a sore throat, which is an absolute red flag for me these days. Made it through the last day of my ski trip with the help of paracetemol, didn't feel too bad on the trip home on Thursday, then on Friday evening it hit me like a train. Snotting, coughing, aching, it just laughed in the face of OTC medicine. Finally got a decent night's sleep on Sunday, and have felt better since, but the cough and blocked sinuses are just not going away.

Another dose of tonsillitis for me. Not had it for 43 years, third time since Dec and each time it's worse. 😐

Friday night, chatting with a guy about kayaking in Bhutan and Nepal in the seventies (him, not me!). He complained of a sore throat.

Saturday night, he turned up briefly to the party we had all gathered for, I felt fine. Didn't manage to catch up with him before he left.

Sunday he was nowhere to be seen, didn't make post party supper that night. Heard he was feeling ill. I felt fine.

Monday night, we're back home, I have a sore throat.

Tuesday morning. I have an incredibly sore throat and ache all over. I feel worse as the day progresses.

Today, Wednesday morning. I feel better than I did last night, but worse than I did yesterday morning. I am about to take Ms Markie Jr and Mrs Markie's old rowing partner and her child to Beale Park.

Do not want.

Yep, basically seems that whenever I stop working, I immediately get ill.
Spent all of Christmas in bed, not had a day off since then until Good Friday, then came down on the Saturday with another effing cold-from-hell.

Is this an actual thing? Getting ill as soon as you start to relax?

Still minging. Still coughing up green muck, deaf in one ear. Weather is lovely, but the thought of touching the bike makes me double over and wheeze.

Bored of it now.

I'm 8 days into it and still suffering. Lost voice and producing dreadful green slime. It's like a horror movie.

Days off are so precious and I'm pissing them away being ill.

There is about a 2 week window in February/early march when things are fairly quiet on the farm. My mate has an engineering company I sometimes do some work for, welding/fabrication work, etc. This year he had 3 massive jobs on and was really short staffed so I said I would help him out. Would have been 2 weeks of 7 days a week with up to 12 hours a day if I wanted it. Would have paid for a new bike and my Alps trip later in the year. I did 1/2 a day before falling down with this flu/cold bug everyone has and finally was able to get about again 2 weeks later. How shit is that? Hey ho. 🙂

Almost 3 weeks now. 1st week hideous, completely exhausted, wracking cough and drenching night sweats. Started some tentative exercise last week, tho still have a niggling cough. Gone round the whole office. Couple of weeks ago 7 out of 20 were off with it! Possible bike ride tomorrow, fingers crossed.

It seems to be passing now.

I cycled in this morning and blew all the muck, blood and slime out of my lungs, and into the bushes.

There is a section of track that now resembles the scene of a vampire attack / bagpipe contest. 😳

Went down with tonsillitis on Easter saturday, then got a raging fever with the shivers and sweats, blocked ears and sinuses. Was in bed for 4 days. Was just starting to get better when I put my back out lifting my daughter.

I'm a bit fed up, to be honest.

I'm clear now. It took two bloody weeks to get rid of completely. Horrible bug. Not had anything like it since I spent a week in bed a few years ago with full-on flu.

I started coughing yesterday (I've been fine for ages), I'm blaming this thread!
