Evening STW,

Strange request really, but as winter is coming, and it IS going to snow. The plan is to make a Snow Bike.

For this i need a snowboard, so wondered if anybody on here, has got one sitting in the shed somewhere? It can even be broken, as it will be cut up anyway.

I know should probably of gone in the Classified section, but it seemed a bit to off topic.

Anyway, let me know if you have got anything. I am more than happy to pay (But not to much :P)

Cheers
Josh...

Which Airwalk board is it?

I borrowed one from a friend in about 2001 and it was brilliant. Their boards were really good, they surprised everyone...although, I think they were actually being made by Atomic and then marketed under the Airwalk brand.

me and a friend tried making one with sheet metal and a bmx. was useless. make sure whoever it is really doesn't want the board anymore!

I'm in Shropshire so not right close. May hang on to it for sandboarding or something as it was my first board.... Sentimentality is a tragic thing. A snowbike sounds interesting though, bmx frame would be best I reckon for chucking around/manouverability. I actually reckon something smaller like a short freestyle ski or snowblades would be better for steering than a board.

what a good idea. I have an old bmx frame, forks and bars. a quick look on you tube suggests that the standard conversion uses two shortened ski's.think i've seen some pics on pinkbike too.

it seems that the ones using a cut down snowboard are more stable.

Got an old design snowboard that has never been used.

Based in Cumbria.

Why a snowboard? You would need lots of soft snow to manage to turn it, otherwise getting it on an edge would be interesting to say the least.

Look at current snow bike design, they tend to use narrower skis!

Do you just bolt forks, bar and part of a frame to a single piece board or is it a 2piece and the front section pivots/steers? angrysnowboarder link vid looks like it might be articulated but he doesn't seem to steer very much, if at all.

Snowboards turn using their sidecut - cutting it in half probably isn't a good idea. mounting a frame seat and bars on a complete board? hmm you'd need quite a lot of skill to make it turn and stop safely...

Didn't read original post properly! Have you ever tried cutting a snowboard in half its hard work and basically renders it useless.

Try some snow blades? About 90 cm long, so might not need cutting. I've a pair, but your not having them, they are great fun.
