Got an 54 Astra 1.6sxi, couple of weeks ago the warning light came on(spanner on a car) after stopping and restarting, the exhaust emission control light comes on.
Took it to my local garage who stick it on the computer which says that 5 of the sensors are registering faulty. Garage say that is highly unlikely and it could be that waters got in a multiplug or something.
Anyway checked my mpg this week and its down to 28.
Cant get back to garage till later in the week, does this sound as if just one of the sensors is duff or am i in for laying out some serious dosh?

Did they mention anything about the EGR valve sticking?

Could be a number of things, would need to know code numbers and sub definitions if available. Could be one sensor knocking everything out. An air leak would also cause numerous codes.

Or as above could be a gummed up EGR. But if it was this you would have noticed a gradual drop in fuel consumption and not a sudden drop. There is a bypass of the EGR if it is this using a software download depending on engine code.

Might have been 5 codes as not been scanned for a long time and they are previous codes that are no longer relevant.

You should be able to read the codes without going to a garage using the pedal trick

Read this link here. Should explain how..
