I've just bought a replacement for an ancient flourescent lighting tube. It's an energy-saving type, output measured in Lumens.
It fits where the old one was, but when I turn the light switch, nowt 'appens.
Do I need to renew the fitting as well?
Best to change the starter before you go to renewing the whole unit ..
Maybe the low energy tubes need a different starter to a standard tube ??
A little confused, what wattage tube did you take out and was it working?
A tube measured in lumens only sounds odd
Check the instructions. We used some at my work and we needed to rewire the fitting as only one end is live. May be a different spec but worth checking
Ballast/starter not working, or not compatible with the tube.
New ones are all high frequency, far more efficient, no starter on the fittings, so without more details, the best bet is the tube is not compatible with your light fitting.
