We will be in touch
My Company is rolling out Sharepoint.
I would like to get hold a decent manual to make the most of the system. I like a good, old fashioned hard copy.
Not looking to design the sites etc. just make best of use of it, particularly the project management type functions. Our internal training resources for it are not very good.
There are dozens on Amazon. Any recommendations?
I never found one and I used to develop against it.
Genuinely one of the worst pieces of software I ave ever had the displeasure of coming across. The cost, both in licensing and then ridiculous level of training required by staff, should be a scandal.
Hope that cheers you up 😉
Rachel
Thanks!
It sounds as if it's going to be as much fun as Lotus Notes!
FWIW we just use sharepoint as online file storage. That seems to be OK.
It's better than lotus notes. In the same way chlamydia is better than herpes.
Awful system.
Doesn't support catia file storage, so utterly useless day to day for me.
My previous employer rolled it out for specific things (always with the intention of it becoming the main file storage system company wide). People would find any way they could to avoid using it and it always died a death.
So there are no positive experiences!
It's being heavily pushed as "The Future".
FWIW we just use sharepoint as online file storage. That seems to be OK.
My laptop will no longer sync with the online documents, so even for this it's a but limited. I don't always have access to the internet.
I think you can make it work - I don't have a manual though
(I have a techy colleague who built his own in his network sandbox in his shed and learn all about it)
Perhaps learn how to use Sharepoint Designer
Depends what version, newer versions don't use designer!
Also ****ed up a lot of the better features "for simplicity".
Here is a quick user guide for 365, but the specific version: 2010/2013 or 365 will help point you in the right direction.
