Don't suppose anyone knows whether the police take on A-level students on 1 week work experience placements? Or would this be something I would need to check with my local police force (Nottinghamshire)?
check local but my guess is there are risk assesment/data protection /safety/training or some such other issues - someone near you probably organises this

contact them as a good starting point
Local colleges that runa Public Services course [most do]may be able to assist.
Some forces allow students/prospective employees to ride in patrol cars as observers, to get a taste of the job. You have to fill in a million forms and wait for ages for security clearance, and then wear a big yellow jacket with the word 'observer', which is chav code for 'target'. But it can be done. Contact the recruitment dept, but also your local neighbourhood inspector. Good luck!
Met do insight patrols. You fill in one disclaimer which says you won't sue if you get hurt, and there is no waiting for security clearance. You basically sit in the car and watch, we've had a couple out this week. No yellow jackets either, dunno what force TenMen works for.
It's for one shift BTW, not a 'work experience' length
Merseyside. We do love our Health and Safety rules. And I may have exaggerated the 'million forms' bit, but there is a CRB check that does take an age to get back.
Don't know of any force that allows work experience because of the cost to the force of vetting students. As stated above you can go out on patrol for a shift usually. Contact the recruitment dept of your home force and ask.

I'm not surprised after half the population of Liverpool tripped over & injured themselves due to badly maintained pavements 😉
Florida neck!
TVP allows work experience although it will be super limited what they can do. I don't imagine they will be allowed on "ride alongs" if they are under 18. I did one though prior to joining and it definately gives you an insight into reality in the police and not the skewif impression a lot of people have.
AS already said though as always I imagine every force is different and you'll have to check with Notts.
my dads a youth interventions officer,
he runs a very successful work experience programme for 15 year olds, i believe there was well over 100 people on the waiting list to do it this year but they only had space for 30,
not too sure if they do a similar thing for A- Level students though,
Okay cheers for that, I'll try getting in contact with notts police
