Hi, have set my email accounts up successfully but i can't set up where i can delete an email on my phone but it stays on my pc. Currently the phone has all my pc email folders.
I would have thought there was a setting to leave emails on the server when deleting, but i can't find it anywhere! Any clues?
Maybe try to switch off synchronisation in Gmail on Your phone (Settings => Accounts)? I had a quick check on my Milestone running 2.2 and can't find anything as well but the sync setting might work. You can browse the app market for a different email client as well as the Gmail one and Motorola's own seems to not have much options.
I couldn't do this on mine either, because it took me a month to realise the phone had a menu key at the bottom which was critical to use the apps . 😳 I guess this stupidity would be fairly unique though, so I'm not sure what your problem might be.
I use the k9 mail app on a defy, connect to a smtp/imap set up at work and it's fine.
settings>accounts>(email accounts should be in a list)>other settings. There should be a tick box saying"remove manually deleted emails from the server".
Djc that's where i thought it would be. If i'm using imap rather than pop then i wonder if the delete option is not avaiable?
I'm using POP so maybe you are right
