[Closed] Any medical experts in? Flying with hematoma
Not me, I hasten to add, but my dad - he broke his hip about six months ago and it's pretty much as good as new.
However, last week he developed a hematoma in the leg above one of the screws. About the size of half a tennis ball and only painful when walking. A&E ultrasounded and tried to suck it out with no luck so advised to ignore and wait until it goes down naturally.
Unfortunately he's due to go on holiday to Krakow this week, and on informing the travel insurance he's been told that the cover is now null and void etc due to cardiovascular related problems. Frankly, he doesn't really care about that and has found another company, but are there any risks involved in flying?
Personally, I see none but wondered why NFU were so quick to wash their hands.

Yeah, they haven't exactly excelled themselves in our experience.
I wouldn't call a haematoma cardiovascular really - make them put that in writing if they're witholding cover and not refunding your dad
re flying - no idea. (Can't see why it would be a massive issue - speaking here as "some bloke on the internet")
