About the only thing you need to really work, FIRST TIME, with travel insurance, is the emergency help number. With NFU – according to the information pack and website – it’s 0800 22 92 92. Great.

Except it doesn’t work. Turns out (while you’re lying in a hospital or have no money / car keys / wallet / phone etc) that the number doesn’t exist and tracking down the alternative is exceptionally hard work involving 30 minutes of digging around on Google. It’s underwritten by a French company, who helpfully don’t publish the direct claim number either.

    FFS, how hard is it?!

that’s pretty bad and I have had to call a few.

Make a complaint and also to the FSA (financial services authority)

    From the UK 0800 22 92 92 (free call)
    From France 0800 22 92 92 (free call)
From a mobile and from anywhere else worldwide +33 145 16 64 65. (You can reverse the charges for this call or ask one of our operators to call you back)
