I have a Mac that could do with some extra external storage.
I also have an old Toshiba laptop running windows that has just died. I've taken the HDD out and wondered if I could buy a case for the hard drive, plug it into my Mac via USB, wipe it clean, then just use it for storing photos on? Is that possible? Or am I being a numpty.
Thank you.

That is possible. You just need to know whether the old harddrive interface is SATA or IDE.
If Sata, then one of these will be fine.
