My parents have been without heating or hot water for 2 weeks as their heat pump has stopped working again. I'm trying to work out if it's just a terrible unit or if the service/maintenance company is not doing their job.ย The unit is a Samsung AE160JXYDEH from 2017 and it has been playing up over the last few years.ย I was surprised that my parents were told that the service company are struggling to source parts given the unit is under 10 years old and from a major brand.ย My Dad is 90 and just out of hospital and so this is the last thing they need.ย Any views on this unit and the availability of parts?ย Also any recommendations for reputable heating engineers local to the Surrey/Sussex area if I need a second opinion?
You'd need to read the small print in the contract, but if nothing else then talk to their insurance company? If they have home emergency cover then it might offer alternative accommodation.
Failing that the various money troubleshooters in the papers are actually quite efficient at solving easy things as no reputable company wants their name splashed over a two-page spread in the Sunday papers about how they froze an elderly couple into ice lollies.
