The New Forest National Park Authority are pushing to improve the facilities and access.

Slap bang in the middle of the New Forest is a youth activity centre at Avon Tyrrell where they have great facilities and trained staff. They have specially adapter bikes and off road wheel chairs etc and trails that these can be used on.

I can vouch for the fun you can have in their off-road wheel chairs as I used one while my foot wasn't properly attached. There are slightly less 'exciting' trails too. For the kit freaks, these come with Chris King headsets

It if sounds like something you would be interested in, or know someone who might be interested in, I suggest you try to get down to the Big Bike Bash as we are keen to show off these amazing facilities and it is a great weekend.

If you have any concerns or questions about what facilities are there then please contact Avon Tyrrell directly and discuss exactly what you want/need/mustn't have.

Email - info@ukyouth.org
Telephone - 01425 672347

Explain that you are planning to come to the BBB weekend and they will be happy to help.

Any problems, just drop me an email and I will resolve them.

Please tell as many people as possible - I would just love to add a wheel chair race to the events list - finally an event I am qualified for

Thanks a lot for posting this!

My brother is tetraplegic and is not often comfortable in anything but a pretty much horizontal wheelchair with loads of pads but this is not far from us so I will definitely check it out. Will get him out of the pub anyway.

So, thanks!

caspian - spread the word. I would love this to be a totally inclusive event. there is a beer festival and music festival as part of the bike festival so it should be too hard to tempt him over

Actually - what size wheels on the wheel chair?
