We will be in touch
I've got a tricky problem with my phone. A few days ago the screen cracked (I think someone trod on it) and the touch screen is not working.
I need to download the contacts, but I can only access the phone as a mass storage device, which doesn't give me the contact list.
Any ideas how I can get the contacts off it without needing to synch the phone? I've downloaded some software (mobileGo) but I need to use the touch screen to get it to get it to work.
I'd rather not have to repair the screen as the phone is a cheap HTC wildfire.
This is what I have found so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852189
No luck in finding the .vol files
is it not sync'd to a google account?
I don't think so. Pretty new to the smartphone thing, so I have not spent much time playing with it.
Do you have a gmail account?
You usually set one up with the phone when it's new.
If so, go to your Gmail account on the computer and open up your contacts list. You've probably got all your contacts there.
Yes I have a gmail account.
I've had a look and I have some of the contacts in there. I'm still missing about 80%
Would the rest of them be stored on the micro sd card or the sim?
I suspect that something like ADB - http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html - is what you need. That will give you access to the device from a PC.
The exact steps however, I've no idea. Maybe ask on Androidforums.com ?
