Ok folks, hope ive done this right (1st time trying to upload photos) So my dad has been clearing out his garage and has no idea what this tool is for. It seems to be made out of a light alloy so dont think its for anything heavy duty. Anyone on here able to tell us what it is?/what it does? Many thanks if anyone can

It's one of those things that hold up a cupboard door when you open it. I found out the name for them the other day because I bought one, but I've forgotten.

EDIT door stay
