Anecdotal from the lab I work in, but gonorrhoea is tested increasingly by PCR which is more sensitive than the "old fashioned" culture method, there are more multi-target PCR panels available so we're now reporting stuff we never routinely tested for before (mycoplasma/ureaplasma) whereas Chlamydia has been tested for by PCR for a very long time and those numbers remain steady.

@LAT Thereโ€™s panresistant gonococcus out there so I wouldnโ€™t rely on that.

Assuming there isnโ€™t a medicines supply chain issue for whatโ€™s prescribed, of course.

I've probably mentioned this before ... but maybe not.

That Chats video was filmed in the sim wards (including maternity suite) training part of one of the hospitals I work at. Literally round the corner from my office. The person who gave them access got a right proper telling off and lost their job.

@ratherbeintobago thanks for the warning. Hoping that your knowledge of this is professional rather than personal.

Growing up, my friends mum worked in the local hospital "clap clinic", she said she'd walking along the street all the time and people would look at her and think they recognised her, then would realise where from and walk opposite direction...

It did mean we had some great stationary for school though with various drug and condom companies on.

Car was playing up.
Took it to the garage, mechanic asks: "Did you park it next to a rusty Transit?"
Me: "Yes, why?"
Mechanic: "I think it's caught a van-aerial disease."
