didn't they change the rules to whoever wins the most races wins the championship? Or was that just a wind-up, because if so then he'd have it sewn up by half way.

I reckon he'd have to win another 9 times [with RB 2nd]
Singapore it is then!

Points system counts as before - must wins wins rule change was overturned before the season started.

So it's purely mathematical and plenty of the season left yet.

Smart money is on him to do it though - sure the Brawn Car is good, probably the best, but in such calm and mature hands, Button is the one who will make it count, not poor Rubens.

Changed my mind - he'd do it in 8 [Italy]

at present the 'winner takes all' rule proposed for this year has been written into next year's rules (but not highlighted like all the other rule changes for 2010... i guess the FIA have had lessons from New Labour on burying bad news.)

as for when would he become uncatchable.

if Brawn keeps up a JB/RB 1-2 then Jenson would be uncatchable from Singapore (say he crashes at Fuji, and is unable to compete for the remainder of the season, or simply fails to score any points and RB wins the remaining 3 races, then Jenson would win by 4 points)

Funnily, the 'ah finally Jenson has the car under him to show his talents' come out of the woodwork. No offence to Button but I rate(d) Coulthard above Button in terms of skill/talent.

Interesting, I never really rated DC as a driver, but always felt Button has something special

The only real test for a F1 driver is how well he qualifies & races against his team mate

Coulthard's record is not particularly good

I never really rated DC, thats my point. I d9on't 'get' the love of Jenson's 'smooth' style plaudits. When it comes down to needing to push/pull something out under pressure I don't think he can step up his game. In test conditions I think hes probably a great test drive. Thats my opinion of course ๐Ÿ™‚

Is "un-catch-up-able" - the phrase they are using these day's for 'wins the driver's championship'?
