Does anyone know if the pub is open at the minute? Seems to change hands quite frequently. There's no website. Did anyone visit for Dirty Reiver this year? @boxelder? We're heading up there next weekend so need to make contingency plans if its shut. Thanks

It was open. Give Steve a ring at the campsite - he knows everything.

Seems it is but they don't have a chef so just a liquid dinner then!

It can be an 'interesting' place when there's just locals in...

Pub update: The knackered old Jag and kennels with 2 big barky dogs in kind of set the tone...

Someone's clearly spent a bit of money on the place since the last time I was in for the DR 3 years ago. Very diverse mix of customers, not many beers on tap (never a good sign) and a pub grub menu with a couple of dishes unavailable. Beers were decent, food was not great but it served a purpose. My mate now refers to it as 'that murder pub'. Bit harsh 🙂

The Pheasant Inn at the other end of the water is lovely. Nice rooms to stay over too.

I think that is almost fair, given that it is based in a village that has all the vibes of a setting for a 9.00pm Sunday evening BBC murder drama.
