shes taking 40 quid a ticket, from people who earn around £200 a month

disgusting lack of respect for her fans.

I don't see any evidence of her being "highly talented" she's done a couple of ok songs but nothing special.
If it wasn't for her chemical abuse, she would have faded into obscurity long ago.

I doubt there's many brickies or lathe operators in the audience.

I'm sort of with MSP here. I don't really understand why anybody cares about her music or her behaviour.

Whatever you think of Winehouse as a person she is a good singer. Far better than most of the bland tuneless numpties

I feel sorry for people that have loads of problems, but no talent or money to help dig them out of it...... Stuff her.

And she has the money and opportunity to do just that, but chooses not to.

From the BBC website

The Grammy-award winning singer had been under strict instructions not to drink after recently finishing a course of alcohol rehabilitation in London.

So she has been to rehab.

imho back to black is one of the best records ever made. the fact that she hasn't done anything since (2006), hints at her having some pretty deep issues that she's yet to come to terms with.

the usual outpouring of mailesque reaction on here 🙄

Explain. Where. I'm. Wrong. Cleverclogs.

Fame is littered with people like her. They have everything and throw it away. I have no sympathy for them. Then there are those that have nothing and get no help, those people I feel for.

irrespective of your opinion of her music or indeed her.... there is someone clearly unwell in need of some help.

Everyone can be a hero and say that she should sort herself out but we all know that is the hardest thing to do.

Poking fun at her is deeply unfair.

not that talented - the album before back to black wasn't that well received, and Back to black was largely the work of Mark Ronson but a lot of the songs are ripped off anyway

case in point - Tears dry on my Own? a blatant cover of Ain't no Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye with a different vocal layered over the top of it

and I was at V festival about 2 years ago and she was as wasted there, festival cameras wouldn't soom in at all cos she was a mess, sound guys were working hard to clean the vocals with autotune and eq, even sliding in prerecorded vocals...

No, cannot be bothered to help you work it out. Google addiction, read a bit, then come back and tell us what you've discovered.

apart from hers being the lead vocal and her having a writing credit on every track, you make a very strong point there.

Can anyone here even begin to have any understanding of how her life is?

Have to agree with allthepies - not good but her fans should know by now that it's a bit of a lottery as to what state she will be in.

BTW - how does The Priory do so well? They charge a bloody fortune and some celebs seem to treat it more like a health farm than an addiction treatment centre..........or is that the plan?

Not her life but an understanding of alcoholism and substance abuse. I see it regular enough in all sorts of levels, situations and backgrounds.

Seeing it is not the same as understanding the reasons behind it, but maybe you do. She is being used by people simply to make money. Who can she really trust? Who are her friends? Who are the people who are looking out for her? Where will they be when the next Ami comes along?
I find the abuse of people, without supporting them, to make a quick buck quite sickening.

I see and hear a lot of the reasons behind it. I've yet to see anyone who's done it through choice.

That#s my life as well, in fact that's most peoples lives, I would say her rewards are greater than most.
More likely her problems are caused by sycophants telling her how hard her life is and how special she is, when actually it isn't and she isn't.

I understand and agree with your sentiments their DS but you are making assumptions there which may or may not be true in her case. She does appear to have a number of people, including her parents, who seem to be trying to give her the support she obviously needs. Ultimately, the only person who can help her is herself.

As I suspected. Big opinion but nowt to back it up.

I know what addiction is, thanks. But what I'm saying is that she has all the time and money in the world to treat that addiction, but doesn't.
Which is why I have no sympathy for her.

fair enough, but not all parents are to be trusted either when money comes into the equation, if she ha support and rejects it then she's on her own. I was just trying to make the bandwagon jumpers stop and think. 😉

She's a decidedly average singer. Name the ‘bland tuneless numpties’ that you think she's better than.
Back to black was largely the work of Mark Ronson
apart from hers being the lead vocal and her having a writing credit on every track, you make a very strong point there.

What's a writing credit got to do with anything? She could have just scribbled down a song title and a bare outline then gone and got shitfaced leaving Ronson to work his magic and she'd still get a writing credit. Of course she has the lead vocal. Your point is?
She's average, it's just a few intellectual music media types have a fixation with artists who are deemed to be 'edgy', or a bit 'dangerous', Pete Docherty's another useless waste of everyone's time and money that a few pathetic tragic people have decided is the face of edgy rock'n'roll. There are a great many artists out there with truly genuine talent, but because they're not useless smackheads they don't have that supposedly romantic air that poets like Shelley et al had that it's felt that Whinehouse and Docherty possess. There's nothing edgy or romantic about an artist of barely adequate talent using drink or drugs to give their mauderings credence.

Sure you did. My unwillingness to inform you is not related to my knowledge, or opinion. It rests on a fundamental dislike of your attitude. Are you clear on that now?

I know what addiction is, thanks. But what I'm saying is that she has all the time and money in the world to treat that addiction, but doesn't.
Which is why I have no sympathy for her.

I think you'll find she's been in clinic just recently. Your lack of sympathy clearly demonstrates you don't have the faintest idea what addiction is, if you did you wouldn't make crass statements you can't back up.

overrated smack head, she'll no doubt be found dead in a pool of her own vomit and be immortalised through rose tinted glasses
