TGT new series, started last night. I liked it - a bit more genuine, less sweary and a bit less of the ladism I thought. Some very good camera work and aesthetics.
Actually felt a bit more like a grown up car show.
Hopefully the choice to drop the "celebrity" spot will continue 😁

Well that's me out.
Only a little bit Drac... 🙂
Phew!
Yup, ready to watch this afternoon if work stays quiet.
Punisher Season 2 drops today as well.
Err, please can we get apostrophes in hashtags?
And Star Trek Season 2 (Netflix) starts tonight.
Holy shit balls it's stunning in 4K.
The camera work / whatever has changed right? I was watching the in studio shots I think of the McLaren and was pretty blown away in normal HD.
Holy shit balls it’s stunning in 4K.
It appears to be HDR but not 4k. Star Trek, that is.
Apparently amazon can tell which bits are being fast forwarded so they ditched the celebrity sections
That was pretty good I'd say you're right more about cars with just enough sillyness.

I gave up on the last series.
Really enjoyed that, great balance of fun/sillyness and car stuff and still in 4k which makes it look stunning.
My wife who was glancing up at the screen now and again was just about to say something, knowing her as well as I do i stopped her before the words came out and said yes Clarkson is pregnant 🙂
i couldnt stop noticing their bad teeth, and jeremys belly!
Kryton junior - 10 - gives it a thumbs up for 10yo suitable viewing and a loud Mustang which apparently Daddy can afford.
For the second time of watching i think actually they may have got the balance right and this could be the death of Top Gear. I await to see how the next 12 weeks go...
We can't have a whole series of
"This many horse power now watch me drive find a corner."
Looking forward to a challenge.....
Jeremy's wrist bands. Forgot to check, as I got used them from the first two series.
I saw the trailer on TV tonight. Was it pasted together from old TG episodes?
It was less cringeworthy than recent efforts, but the first episode still seemed a bit devoid of ideas. A pretty decent chunk of time was spent mooching about Detroit for no real reason. Hopefully the ideas bank doesn't remain in the red for the whole series.
a bit more genuine, less sweary and a bit less of the ladism I thought.
Agree, it has improved
jeremys belly!
That's a long gestation period
mooching about Detroit for no real reason.
Although in mini docu-soap fashion it was an interesting dichotomy of the American dream. 43 Car factory’s reduced to two, and the scale of seeing a busy Street with every single spur off that Street a dead shell of former restraunts, hotels and bars not to mention a $2000 4 bedroom house was jaw dropping. Literally like turning a corner from First World into the Third World inside a country that purports itself to be the land of opportunity.
The fast forward button never had so much use, factories close down everywhere , the management should have planned for new vehicles or different things to make, great filming angles but poor content and lacked humour .
Pssst! It’s a car show so they chose Detroit factories for that reason. No one cares about the business decisions it’s about muscle cars racing around their heritage.
yep i raced through that episode as well
I enjoyed it
Hammond is channelling quite a bit of Robert Downey Jr
this is cool- I didnt realize my months free prime trial included the amazonshitcarshoe
Is this the last full series and from now on its just a handful of specials?
Trump added taxes to imported steel Steel makes cars. Car manufacturers stop making cars locally due to high steel prices and make 'em abroad.
Go Trump
I did enjoy Amazons hit car show. Looking forward to the series and the return of the big specials next year.
I think you will find that down town Detroit looked like a post apocalyptic waste land well before Trump and his tariffs.
I thought it was okay. However I had drunk a can or two too many. I might need to try it again sober.
Yes, you can't blame Trump for what happened in the 70's. That would be like blaming Theresa May for British Leylands collapsed. They were all making stuff (badly) that people didn't want as the alternatives were better.
Now if Trump had been around back then he could have stopped car imports and everyone would be forced to buy the lesser american built cars.
Am I the only one that thought it was just as dull as the last 2 series?
I want to like it, but I detect no change whatsoever. It's still the same rehash they've been doing for what, 10? 20 years?
If the 3 of them had made a show that wasn't about cars, maybe they'd have created something funny, new and interesting. Listening to the same soundbites and gags week after week while they drift around a racetrack or pretend to race around the streets just isn't doing it for me any more.
It's like watching the same movie over and over again, with subtle differences and re-branded as a new movie. Kind of like the Evil Dead 1 and 2, except in an alternate reality where they didn't stop at 2 and just carried on until 248...

I bet it's an SPD - they are really bad for driving.
Bloody hell. That Donkey bothering is an actual thing 😯
Just watched episode 2 , a huge difference from episode 1, which was ever so boooooring, 2 is funny has clashes , humour great camera skils and script, that they obviously dont follow to closely, loved the Jeep and the Panda 4 X 4.
Dont forget that episode 3 (AKA episode 2 part 2) was released on Saturday.
Enjoyed it. Funny.
Was pretty good some crappy over scripted moments but still totally entertaining. What an amazing experience that must be.
Has Jezzer been there before?

Same rehashed shit since I remember JC joining 🙁
This week is a bit silly then they do what they do best a documentary, this time on Jim Clark.
I enjoyed last week's episode - the pulling over the statue of Hammond had me in stitches.
It was Ok they've done better ones.
This week's is much better especially the last section.
That first episode was dull. Had me wondering whether to carry on watching it.
So glad they followed it up with a 2 part adventure trip. I don't care how much of it is staged and it's always obvious when it is (like having camera's filming them from the other side of the suprise gorge thing). If it makes me chuckle then it's all good. And the last 3 episodes have done exactly that. Not seen the latest one yet.
They're always best when they are doing things as a trio. The individual car reviews I find boring as they are always of ridiculous limited edition cars that I have no interest in.
That Jim Clark documentary was brilliant. Best thing they've done in ages.
What a driver!
Just watched the first of the 3rd season, it wasn’t that bad.
I’d just sort of thought the formula was wearing thin and the punching that guy would have put it out of its misery then Amazon thought they’d splash out.
I’d endured the first two gt’s hoping it might get better and nearly didn’t bother with the current but ditching the celebs section and less trying so hard seemed to work well.
Loved the Jim Clark tribute. The cars were beautifully shot
Pick up episode was awful, apart from the item on the Jag.
Personally I prefer the stuff about rare cars, even though I’ll never drive them. That’s the point.
Seems like two shows squashed together, the “humorous” bits and the car bits. Your either a fan or one or the other, rarely both.
On a plus side for Amazon, I’ve discovered Drive, free on prime. Made by NBC, so American slant but has Chris Harris going sideways and not having to play second fiddle to Joey from Friends.

Viewing figures and a unchanged format for over 10 years says both seems more popular.
The one thing the two part trip to Columbia did,is make me want a Panda 4x4. A brilliant little car.

Or both sides just have to watch the crap bits to get to the bits they prefer.

Yep, helped by the fast forward button. It is a 20 minute show for me most episodes as I am only interested in the actual cars, items such as the Jim Clark one. As soon as the 3 of them are together doing yet another challenge the fast forward button is hit.
For blokes mucking about I've recently enjoyed A League of Their Own Euro road trip .
Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp with a few guests being silly.
That Jim Clark section was really well done. I'd happily watch a series of documentaries by them like that
