[Closed] Amazon pushing Prime..

Couple of weeks ago free delivery went out next day and arrived 2 days later. Was it a reseller/marketplace rather than Amazon themselves?

I made an order on Tuesday evening using free delivery and received it on Friday. I was happy with this but the estimate of next Tuesday to Thursday did seem very slow. All items were showing as being in stick when I placed the order.

I've not ordered from them in a while prior to this one so not sure if they normally arive prior to the estimated date.

Recent Amazon experience is to get an estimated delivery time of 5-8 working days when placing order, then a few hours later the e-mail saying your goods are being processed for dispatch, usually results in next day delivery on free option.

Its an amazon fulfilled order placed on the 1st May..
Have another order placed 4th May being despatched today too.

Not in a hurry but 9 days seems pretty slow.
I did have a free 60 day prime trial in december and ordered/returned all manner of xmas stuff.

Just got the feeling they will make free delivery really slow as they've already pushed up the minimum spend to £20

I did a one month free Prime Trial with free next day delivery. As soon as the trial was up and they took my money, next day delivery became 4-5 days. I cancelled and got back 11 months of the annual fee.

I don't buy all that much from amazon these days, but streaming films makes it worth the money in my book (havent had a proper telly in two years) though you sometimes have to work hard to find good ones.

If they introduce unlimited online storage like in the US, then prime will start to become worth it.

I've been using the free trial and to be honest haven't found it that great. I think I'll be taking the money and using it to buy dvds and the like or maybe try nowtv.

I've since learned that taking a "no-rush" delivery gets me a quid off music downloads or some other stuff, and the stuff still comes within 2-3 days

I think I've halved the cost of the prime just by doing that - still won't be renewing next time round though

(and of course, I could have found the music "elsewhere", I'm sure)

I ended up up the free trial even after making a point of trying to avoid it. Took some Goggling to work out how to cancel too. I avoid buying from Amazon now as a result, is all very sharp practice, but they'll continue as long it yields profits.

Sam_Underhill, they do unlimited photo storage if that's what you mean? It's been available for at least 5 months. One off the issues I've read about is that you may lose folder structure if you catalogue your images well. The images are maintained but the folders tend to disappear.

Yes, they brought in unlimited picture storage a month or so ago in the UK. I got it just for that, but the next day delivery is surprisingly appealling.

Prime is awesome in my view. I've got more decent tv and movies to watch than I have time to watch, and where else can I order an Xbox with a load of accessories as a spur-of-the-moment thing at 9pm on a Saturday night and have it delivered at 10am on a Sunday morning?

Admittedly, this is an irregular use-case, but it's often surprising what Amazon sell, that can be had cheaper, and faster, than buying locally, using the Prime next-day service.

What bensales says, £70 is roughly the same price as a year Netflix,it has more telly than I can find time to watch. Next day deliveries are for emergencies, usually take the slow delivery option for the films that are still charged for, or the odd kindle book/album.

ive just started a free months trial after needing a delivery quickly. thought id have a look see if itll help me listen to some music next week on holiday. not sure it will.

cant see any way of downloading music to listen to offline. anyone care to show me where im going wrong, or confirm that i cant?

I too was stung by the "free trial" but I called and complained 7 months later and got a full refund, they looked at my usage and saw I had not used any of the prime benefits aside from the odd free delivery. I am not a heavy Amazon user (avoid if I can due to tax avoidance/working practices)

(my point was really that, once stung, I found out it wasn't so bad - and the next day deliveries are very impressive when I need them - last one was just under 14 hrs)

It sames on Amazon.co.uk that I'm a Prime member, but not on Amazon.com....

Dos that mean that no-rush gives you rubbish download speeds and it takes 2 to 3 days to download the whole album ???

Don't use prime, but use the Amazon Lockers. Delivery usually very quick

For Example, item ordered late Sunday afternoon (about 5ish), text to say in the locker Monday lunchtime!!!

This was just a standard Amazon locker delivery. I dare say it helps that the closest lockers to work are in the new Amazon London HQ!
