Any of you guys had Amazon 'account locked' emails this morning? Just went into Amazon and I can get straight into my account so I presume it's a phishing scam but the email address it's been sent from is auto-confirm@amazon.co.uk which I'm sure is the same email address as when you place an order. It also didn't have my name on the header like it would with mail shots etc. Just sent amazon an email to notify them of it and ask if it's genuine or not.

Just had an email saying it phishing. Hope it's not another CRC security breach though

I couldn't log on to my Amazon account this week without having to change my password each time.
Amazon told me that a list of email addresses and their passwords has been posted on the internet and that was the reason i was experiencing this problem.don't know how many names were on said list.

Anyway, Amazon re-set my account, and everything has been fine since. 🙂

the email address it's been sent from is auto-confirm@amazon.co.uk

Anyone can set sent email to address to that, never go off that. Hover over the URL link and see what it shows or better still do what you did and go straight to the site.

I will try and reset my password later when I can. Was just worried about card details but recently been using PayPal anyway

Any spam filter will pick up the spoofed email address. It's the most basic of checks...

Most likely, if it's sitting in your GMail/Hotmail inbox, it's not spam.

Never ever follow this rule.

Moreover,

"I got an email saying something was wrong, so I checked and it wasn't" is all you really need to know. Just so long as you go to Amazon (or wherever) manually rather than clicking links in the email, you're good.

It's my yahoo which has a better filter than my hotmail but apparently a long lost relative in Zimbabwe managed to get hold of me to inform me of that I've inherited some money so somehow don't trust the filters.

Scrub out Hotmail/Yahoo then - Gmail works perfectly well. Can't remember the last time I got some spam in my inbox.... must be several years, at least... and I probably get around 100 emails per day, if not more...

Amazon's SPF record passes...
