bought  item from an eBay shop. Used PayPal

Item arrives 5 days after estimated delivery, item is damaged.

contacted seller and included photo. The seller has agreed to replace. I have to send back the faulty item, they will then send a new item and re-fund my return postage.

Now I thought it was the sellers responsibility to sort collection of faulty goods (distance selling regs?)

I’m uneasy about paying return postage and then get a refund, and not getting the replacement until the damaged goods are returned seems a bit of a slow way of resolving a problem

I’ve  asked  them to send me a replacement, and to let me know their preferred return method, once I’ve got a postage price I’ll let them know, they pay me the postage and I return

am I on solid ground here or not?

clearly I could just go down the PayPal dispute road, but want to let them have a chance to get the right bit to me!

Thanks all

Much better just to raise a return through ebay. You'll be able to print off a postage label. No hassle, no cost to you.
