I have a non smart tv and a zyxel NAS box so i currently have a boxee box acting as a bridge between the two to watch movies with. It works great and the kids can work it easily but now the remote for boxee is dead which means plugging in a usb keyboard to operate it which is just a faff. There is no app to control boxee i think mainly because boxee box are no longer made or supported.
What is a cheap alternative to stream stuff from a nas to a dumb tv via hdmi? Apple tv would be great but it wont see my nas (i cant install plex/kodi on my nas)?
amazon fire tv with Kodi sideloaded might do the job for you
Fire stick is about to be updated and may work better with Kodi as my mk1 firestick is a bit laggy
Spawn - i would prefer something that can be hard wired as our broadband is a bit pants so can be a bit frustrating at times.
I was looking at something like a Sumvision micro or similar
