Does any one have the Gourdon bags ?

Just looking at getting one to do shortish bivvying trips....updating some of my really old gear...

But just wondered if these were any good to use ?

Cheers.

I've had a gourdon for a while and it's not a bad bag, the shoulder straps don't like to stay tight though - the webbing is pretty thin (plenty strong enough) and slips.

Right now mine is packed with an Alpkit PD400 sleeping bag, a MoD goretex bivvy bag and an Alpkit wee airic, plus some clothes to change into, off tonight for a 30 mile ride to the Stretton Hills, a few pints in the Stiperstones Inn and then a night on the Devils Chair. In the morning we'll ride back over the Long Mynd for breakfast in Church Stretton and then a train ride home (or maybe we'll ride all the way back too).

Should be a good test of the bag!

Cheers Nick, let me know how you get on with the bag....

I'm looking at various alpkit bits and it looks pretty good value for the money..

I've just come back from a weekend in Ireland with my Gourdon 30.
It swallowed my Pipedream 400 bag plus my Hubba Hubba tent, and couple pairs of pants, spare t-shirts etc, no probs. It did a fine job. And even came through ryaniair's baggage-handling apes unscathed.

I've been really pleased with mine.

Mines the 20l one with the mesh side pockets, it's going to be full but the bivvy bag I have is twice as big/heavy as the Alpkit Hunka, still weighs just over 2kg all up.

I emailed them about the slipping strips and got sent a nifty tip. Basically you use use the rubber end of the strap as a wedge in the ladderlock/buckle!

Had mine for over a year now and its been fautless. Its never caused me any problems, even flat out on the motorbike! I was a bit dubious about the longevity of the fabric but its doing better than the dry dock I've got (it's slightly larger heavier duty cousin).

I have a gourdon 30 and it seems brilliant. For the money it would be hard to beat. I used it with a wee airic, decathlon mini sleeping bag and hunka bivvy bag. You can also fit in a 3litre camelbak and have space left if you want.

highly recommended - stays still even on technical descents (at least at my mincing speed)

I bought a 25ltr and 20 ltr after my stuff got drowned after a ride and my phone broke, the 20ltr is better for cycling with the side pockets and bungees that can work as a compression straps. Have yet to use the the 25ltr (jaffa) was going to use it for canoeing trips but its for sale if you want

i'm struggling to imagine how to get all this stuff into a 20l gourdon (i have the same bag)... i need a smaller sleeping bag before i can try it out for myself though- snugpak, i reckon, cos i don't like down bags. also i have a regular airic rather than the wee one. and either a hunka or a coleman rigel x2 tent. hmm. think i need a bigger bag. haha!

I have had a couple of then, i use them for commuting (to keep my laptop dry) works a treat.

I have just got the 30l stelthy one cos the 25l was just a bit to small for me to fit all the stuff i needed for work in. plus it has more room for the bivi trips 🙂
