"Will she talk?"

"Incessantly."

He does. It must have been bloody hard to talk like that; there was a scene where he's sat in the cafe with another agent and they're both mangling things...

It's funny, but it's not Blackadder, is it.

Agree with mrlebowski., not something that was ever on in our house. Birds of a Feather, Are You Being Served, Hi-De-Hi, all the sort of crap we avoided.

In Allo Allo all they did was speak about boobies.*

In Blackadder, they wore fake boobies.

*Apart from Herr Flikk and Helga, who to be fair, did wear basques.

It's more Father Ted than Blackadder. Still even then it's a more gentler, basic humour than Father Ted at that.

I love the end credits, it has almost a curtain call theatre to it. A different era?

I love Allo Allo, it was one of the first sitcoms I watched as a kid, still love it now.

Don't like Mrs Brown's Boys though, not at all.

Despise it. What happened? I haven't seen a decent comedy for years.
Blackadder
Faulty towers
Auf wiedersehn
Porridge
Only fools
Allo Allo
Dads army
Father ted
Now we get ****ing browns boys, my family and a shit load of "reality" stuff. Did all the good writers die? Depressing.

It was funny for a bit but then I grew out of it and realised it's just the same jokes and plot every episode. It overdid it and went on way too long.

It's the same as Are You Being Served, Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hi-de-Hi. Same innuendo jokes each week, tedious after a while. Guess what? Same creators inc Allo Allo. That said, they did make Dad's Army, and while repetitive again, it was a lot more funny.

Blackadder, Father Ted, Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Open All Hours... million times better than all of these put together. That's not to say they don't make me chuckle at times.

Only Fools, is better but likewise just went on too long. Worse is Gold has destroyed it for me as it's just on 24/7.

Just let me start up my powerful Gestapo laptop and reply...

Enjoyed it in a 'oh its on I might as well watch it' way back in the 80's, I imagine it must seem very dated now, just like Mrs Browns Boys?

Now, the Kenny Everett Show, that's one that keeps on giving.

There are 2 shows that we make a point of watching. Dad's Army and People Just do Nothing.

It was/is excellent and very clever...the stereotype comments are just surface things...but the way they spoke was how the French speak - but in English...very clever.

Was a great comedy...up there with Blackadder and Dad's Army (both also very clever and funny).

Tell that to Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle... watch "Fleabag"...

Only shit comedy killed shit comedy. (except it didn't cos it seems to still be around)

I'm learning that Cartoons aimed at young kids is where a lot of the decent comedy writers are working now. I quite often find myself leaving the kids TV on when they've gone to bed and watching Gravity Falls, Pickle and Peanut and Phineas and Ferb.

The main channels are either crap or reality crap ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Kenny Everett, the man was revered as a comedy god in the playground on Monday mornings, judging by the imitations. Somehow, we were allowed to watch his antics along with the gyrations of Hot Gossip, but the Young Ones was way too naughty for the majority of ten year olds in my school.

Allo Allo was definitely best when Helga was cavorting around in her Gastapo basque.

And as an 11 year old Francesca Gonshaw usually made me stand to attention ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now, the Kenny Everett Show, that's one that keeps on giving.

If memory serves, it used to be shown on primetime BBC1, early Saturday evenings. We can only marvel at how he got away with "Cupid Stunt".

That's the problem when they go on too long. Blackadder got out at the right time.

Renee lives just round the corner from me. I sometimes see him shuffling around the supermarket. He looks a bit of a sad old fella now. Actually, I haven't seen him for awhile....is he still alive?

Want that keen on Fleabag myself, but as evidenced in the other recent sitcom thread, there are a fair few around today that are proper funny. Personally, I think that Man Down, Friday Night Dinner and Raised By Wolves are as good or better than any 'classic' sitcom. Also seem to have missed out on something special as I've not seen People Just Do Nothing.

Didn't like Man Down, the previous Greg Davis sitcom, Cuckoo was better. First series anyway. Second was crap.
