Hi, I need some travel insurance for a trip to the Alps with the bike in a couple of weeks.
Who do you use? I have just checked my current annual family policy and it covers me for mountain biking but not 'Downhill' !!! Fact lot of use thats going to be. Don't need any cover for the bike or my stuff, just for me.
Ideally I want an annual policy that would cover me for off-piste snowboarding as well.
Had a quote from Snowcard and it was over a £100 for just a week!!, god knows how much an annual policy would be? My current annual family policy (5 of us) that includes off piste boarding with and without a guide is only £70 for the year. Can"t see why biking is that much more expensive.
Don't need any bells and whistles, just a cover to get me mended and back home.
When i go skiing i pay extra ~(only a few €'s) when i get my lift pass, it buys you a Carte Neige, which acts as a top up insurance to get you of the hill and to a hospital, where your normal winter sports cover would kick in (your normal policy would cover you but its a lot less hassle and you dont have to pay up front and claim it back). Locals buy it as they don't have holiday insurance. I covers you for a helicopter if its serious enough. Can you buy something similar in the summer when biking?

I use Snowcard. And just had to use them in anger. Had major accident medivac out. Anyway, 2 weeks in an itallian hospital.
Snowcard were brilliant, one phone call and they arranged everything, just calls to keep me posted of progress
They flew out my girlfriend door to door service, arranged all flights, hotels etc etc
Medical assistance home, BA business class door to door back home for me, doctor (who was flown from the uk to Italy) and my girlfriend for my own comfort as oxygen was required and additional leg room required
Bike collected and shipped by international courier
All in all fantastic service and can't endose them enough.
They may be expensive but it's been complete piece of mind all through the traumatic episode I've experienced
There may be cheaper alternatives available but I know who I will be using and recommending in the future
