Just sold a car on ebay, it is SORN, no MOT and the guy has just been to collect it and he's driven away in it.

He's told me he has trade plates but I didn't see him with any.

What's worrying me is that he's using the car to get back to Stroud from Worcs [M5] and he's not a trader, so

no insurance.

Am I liable for any comeback on me from the Police if he gets stopped or has an accident?

Matt.

Footnote he did pay me for the car and he signed registration document.

Not your problem if you have a legitimate sale.

Did you give him the green bit, and get him to fill out & sign the blue bit which you keep and post?

If so you're fine

This.

I once sold an old car to a scrote, first thing I did was get all the paperwork to the DVLA. Next thing I knew I got about fifteen NIPs through the post. Just went "not me guv" and that was the last I heard about it.
