So, we have my newish 120d, which gets me most places with the bike and is prefect for travelling round south for work. End of.
Then we have out 8yo Kuga, which has been through 2 babies/kids and countless North London car parks, and would make for the perfect "Gorrick winter series" bike carrier for parking in a forest (already scratched, haldex 4wd). This is MRs K's car.
Thing is, she wants a new car, but recognises the "value" of knocking around in a car we can just chuck kids bikes in/on or take stuff to the tip without a worry. I'd could use the Kuga for those gorrick trips but I'm too lazy to swap child seats around each time.
The obvious thing to do is nothing, just get off my arse and swap car seats. But I do feel guilty that she can't have the new car she wants.
I realise this is basically a thread without questions but, well hey...

3 cars or you drive the bike car and she gets a new one or drives the BMW

ISOFIX seats? Take about 30 seconds to remove & perhaps a minute to replace. Stop being so lazy. 😆
Swap cars, she gets the Bimmer, you get the Kuga. Easy.
Roof bars on the bmw then she can have whatever she likes.
Keep your woman happy bud, its the future innit.

Easily said, but which would you rather your kids were in on an icy school run? Not the RWD BM thats for sure.

Go those, the Gorrick thing is more an issue of parking in the middle of an icy forest in a car thats 6" off the ground and RWD 🙂

Never had any issues with my BM, had plenty of issues with other drivers though in snow/ice
....well given that the highest risk in that situation is either hitting another car, or being hit by one, I'd rather be in the new BMW which is probably a safer place in an impact than the 8 yr old Ford...but which would you rather your kids were in on an icy school run?
Ask your wife how she is going to pay for the new car and what the children are going to miss out on in order to fund it.

This. By some winter tyres if ice is your main concern.
Having seen the crash test ratings of some of the early SUVs, my kids would be in the BMW with winter tyres
Brittax super cruiser car seats were our staple. Can't believe they stopped making them. Basically a polystyrene bucket seat that placed the seat belt in the right place for little ones. Used until they graduated to booster seats.
Swapping between cars was never easier. They were so light.
Everyone needs a designated "bike" car.

Now we are talking.
So actually, I should buy Mrs K something more modern, and upgrade my car to something all round luxurious/cruiser/bike car with 4wd. Rs6? 😆
Buy more car seats for the other car. That's what I did as I am also too lazy to move them over each time 😆
You get the Kuga and she gets a new SUV? Or you get 2 new SUVs? ❓ 😛
