i'm looking to replace 3 clamp brackets on an old screenprinting press i have, the original ones are cast aluminium (i have googled diy aluminium casting and i am tempted but the wife has said no to a blast furnace in the garden!! ).
the rough shape is a rectangular U and measures 130mm high, 130mm wide and 50cm deep. very roughly. its pretty chunky and there are 5 threaded holes to accept bolts. its a very basic shape and i'm quite sure i can replicate it in sketchup or i can send the original part to be replicated.
as an utter ballpark if i went down the cnc route can anyone tell me roughly what sort of costs i'm looking at?
Probably about £150-200 if you had it done as a proper job. A fair bit cheaper if someone did it on the side 😉
Unless they're a very awkward shape or you need lots of them done, you probably don't need need CNC, just someone handy on a manual milling machine.
It sounds like the sort of job that would be perfect for a backstreet machining workshop type place
Reckon you could fine some aluminium (or steel) U-Channel in the right size then cut, drill, and tap holes yourself?
