Right, well about a month ago i needed a car, but for reason unknown i didn't buy one 🙄 I now have a job, which will require travelling duties, i also have a 3000 mile trip to France planed with the bike in the summer.
I have around £4k to spend, and basically think i need a diesel. Needs to be fast (well kind of fast) and, well that's about it, ow and a small hatch type thing.
My short list is:
Seat Ibiza 1.9tdi 130 sport
VW golf GT Tdi 130 or 150
I'm swinging for the Seat, mainly because i really like them, cheap to insure, bloody fast, cheap to buy a good one.
So any other ideas, Ow and no, I'm not getting a Skoda
Seat are great! As are Skoda...look beyond the badge....!
Do they do a 150 in the Seat? If so, that would be my pick, a great engine.
its the same engine as the 130. just different chip/mapping.
It isn't that badge that bothers me tbh, never has. It is the fact they are actually expensive, compared to the equivalent Seat. They don't do the Seat in a 150, well not in my price range, i could always get it chipped.
Can't beat that Seat you mentioned. Top notch, I really want one 🙂

its the same bloody engine!! yes doesnt look as good initially but you can buy naughty bits for it to make it look alot more evil than the seat
I would say the Seat. I'm between a leon and a Passat for my next car. Test drove a 170 FR Leon a few weeks ago. Its an absolute animal and for 12k a year old it cant be beat!!!

It isn't that 😆 I;d love a Fabia VRS, but your lucky if you can find one within a 100 miles of nottingham for less than £5k, the Seat on the other had, same age mileage, engine etc... pic one up for about £3.5k
Saab 9-5 Estate, I picked mine up for £3k with fully loaded toys, I just fold down the back seats and throw in the MTBs with the wheels on.
I have sen VRs's for around £4k, I would drfinately get one before the Seat

I think the Ibiza is gopping to look at. Awkward and too narrow for its side-profile.
Travelling duties seems to be the main criteria rather than 'speed'. I'd go for something quieter like a Passat or a Octavia.
