Graphic designers all over the UK...celebrate!

Can't quite make out whether it's a stay of execution or a permanent move. Sorry to say, the Asian Network looks like it's on its way though.

Great news! Would be even better if Chill (DAB station) returned - utterly brilliant radio station that decided to cut transmission to almost everywhere but a couple of major cities.

Yeah, I imagine your choice of DAB stations outside the mainstream is a bit limited down there. Which is a bit poo!

All I need is for Adam & Joe to come back and all is well in the world.

Hopefully not with any bit of luck. They're awful! 😛

YOUR dislike of them merely reinforces their awesomeness 😉

I'd rather NME radio had remained rather than 6 but some choice is better than no choice

That's really great news, I'm sure it must have been my incisive critique of the Beeb's popular music output that swung it.

Adam & Joe made their segments of 6music's Glastonbury coverage unlistenable for me.

Have tehy always been so irritatingly clever-clever and unfunny - or was I just a knob as well when I used to like them?

is it right that they are able to continue funding it after the small army of football commentators/crew/blaggers came back from S.A early?

Fantastic news.

ps. Praise the lord that George Lamb has left 6Music.

I was pleasantly surprised not to hear any fog horns or execrable links when I accidentally listened to 6Music when he was normally on.

6Music is no longer a no-go area on weekend mornings!

Geroge Lamb is no worse than Richard Bacon.

He seems a nice bloke, but he's just trying far too hard.

Danny Baker should be on there instead, then all these youngsters wouldn't have to try to copy him.

Glad it's staying
Adam & Joe I found annoying but bearable in small doses up to 10 minutes ata a time
George Lamb made me switch off immediately.
Saying he's no worse than Richard Bacon is hardly glowing praise!

More a temporary reprieve in my reading of the situation. The "board" have said they want a complete review of BBC digital radio rather than just cutting stations. Though it doesn't explain why they are happy for Asian to be cut. Bit double standards if you ask me. I know that sounds PC which I am not a fan of but you have to say the position can be seen to be a little naughty.

I suspect that in fact it was a toss up between Asian and 6music, rather than both. and then seeing how vocal each group of listeners would be about it. The support for 6 has been pretty strident, less so for Asian.

Though it doesn't explain why they are happy for Asian to be cut.

If memory serves, the BBC Trust had several HUNDRED THOUSAND objections to 6music being scrapped - and about 400 over the Asian Network.

That's what the NUJ said anyway. They emailed members asking them to protest to save the jobs - though I doubt many did.

Because the Asian network has suffered from both very poor audience figures and is of itself a very confused radio station. What does Asian mean? what community are they trying to reach? In what language? what age group? It's just too big for one station really. Tried to be jack of all trades etc etc.

Glad to hear it, best radio station on the airwaves IMHO

Even better if they gag all presenters and just make them play music 😆

Yay! Now, all they have to do is ditch Radio 3 and the vast amount of money saved would keep 6Music going for ever.

Nooooo 🙂

Leave Radio 3 alone...it's about as niche as radio gets.
