I've seen one of these for not so much money as a second car when mrs iolo is with the car and it's too cold for the motorbike. It's the 69PS version. One previous owner, full service history and 70,000 km.
Reviews seem ok, just a bit slow it seems. That doesn't really bother me as I have my motorbike for fun when I need something a bit quicker.
Does anyone here own one? Are they any good?
I *think* expensive tax and poor fuel consumption compared to the more modern small petrols.
There's no car tax here in Austria so that's not a problem. It will only be used occasionally so the increased fuel consumption compared to newer cars should also not be a big issue.
I think I have that engine in my 1.2 Polo. It's ok but not especially economical as has been mentioned, although sounds like that may not be an issue. Around town it's a bit gutless with no low down torque. It's actually quite ok on A and motorways though. Pretty smooth for a small engine IME
Having owned a similarly powered car (although lighter and quicker) I wouldn't want anything that slow with the short slip roads there are near me.
Might not be a problem in sunny Austria though, just a thought.

What on earth do you shout at cyclists then?
I've nothing to add on the Fabia question other than everybody loves them.
60 mpg for motorways and combined of 48 mpg so not exactly shabby on fuel
Nippy enough in towns - it does accelerate when you press the pedal [ unlike a berlingo which is the other vehicle I drive] though you may not be impressed if you are a petrol head who wants speed as that wont wow you but it is fine if you dont want to race anyone.
Cruises at 70 without issue on Mway
Not that noisy though i am comparing it to a diesel
I think that is the same as my Polo if it is the 3 cylinder? If so it is pretty slow, but gearing means it is quite nippy around town. Cruises at 70 mph fine, generally well built. The 3 cylinder engine is noisy if that bothers you. Decent space and size for a supermini. And as a second car I think they are ideal.
