ORANGE, Ha you ant got a hope in hell of getting anything from them, the worst cell phone company out there, period. the amazing thing is that it worked, we used to have 3 Orange phones in the business and they never had any service were we needed to use them.
They're great to me. Top service and great deals.
Thanks for this thread!
Just showed my daughter and didn't even have to go down the 'don't even think about it' road!!
Even she thought this was taking this p1ss big time
🙂
I have to say that Orange surprised me today. I was unable to pay my last invoice on time due to cash flow (unemployed). Had to ring them today to make payment and asked how much I was going to be charged for late payment. Nothing! I could have dropped through the floor. The only "problem" is my DD is cancelled until I pay my next bill on time and then I can re-instate my DD payments.
Sounds fair to me.
ianpinder,
is that in student halls? why bother!
i rent a flat -though not a student i share with someone who was- the two guys here paid 350 each a month for rent and bills. thats in a private rented flat in edinburgh, close to town. why pay more for a tiny box in student accom????!!
and although thats still 4200 a year, its still 600 (near 2 months rent) saved!
On the op, i'd say its best to have her pay it all back, in some form or another.
i had a contract phone from my dad till i was 18, but then worked out cheaper for me to get a new one than continue paying the bill (cheaper deals and all that).
As for the whole what gets payed for, most student friends seem to get help with paying for accom, but all bills/other stuff is up to them, part time jobs and such to fund.
if she's still staying at home the entire time at uni thats pretty bad, you should at least get some form of digs money from her, like £50 a week contributing to things?
I read your first post re phone bill and then your last.Cannot beleive you are even discussing it on this forum.
I personally would not have told a sole, how dumb are you.
I would be mad at myself not my daughter, what did you expect.
Wake up and smell the java.I hope you don't drive as people like you should not be in charge of anything that moves a fast as a car.
You are a high court judge .... am I right !
Its Good to talk....LOL BUT not at that price fella...
If my daughter had a phone bill like that id kill myself......
But shes a very considerate lassy.,..Bless Her....As shes got loads of common sense too
I once ran up a marisat bill of just shy of 16grand (pounds) but it was legitimate work stuff - p0rn back in them days (usenet alt.binaries.pictures.amazonianwoman) was a bit slow on the old dial up from the middle of the Caspian ! We were using a diskfax to transfer code backwards and forwards - cost a bit !
Anyway, is she cute ? could you pimp her out to recoup your losses ? I'll get my coat...
re. cost of uni... Halls usually include all bills, and frequently they are catered too. I've worked at two universities and the contribution from parents ranged differently between the two. One, a red brick with a high proportion of public school kids, was as you'd expect - accommodation paid for, allowance, sometimes a car, and some even had a credit card their parents would pay off at the end of the month. Where i work now, non-red brick with a fair proportion of students who are local, many parents contribute by letting their kids stay at home, and there are a lot fewer who provide allowances, pay for rent etc. It really depends on the course, background of student, and location.
imho the students who get a job are more organised, better motivated and work harder.

Really? I've had Orange phones for nearly 10 years and had two problems both of which they fixed by doing more than I asked (eg queried some charges of about £7.50, got £10 refund). Never even considered leaving them.
I've not bothered trawling though all the responses here, but in short:
19 year old, either in employment or higher education, some access to money of she puts her mind to it, therefore she pays for it.
Next time she is abroad, get the provider to put a block on charges, so when she reaches a limit you have agreed with the provider, they'll notfiy you, you decide whether or not to extend the limit to continue service.
Did you get any joy with Ornage?
