2006 Octavia, front tyres are shot and need replacing. About to order through Black Circles and it's giving me options of 2 Wheel Tracking and 4 Wheel Alignment as £30 each. Do I need these? Will it make much difference?

It sorted out my Quattro when it was crabbing over wet drain covers.

That's the thing - I've not noticed any problems with the steering. So not sure if I need it.

If you are going to get it done i would go to a specialist, they often have improved settings from the norm.

Some factory recommended settings cause tyre wear. One of my old cars used to wear the front and rear unevenly (even after being checked numerous times by well known tyre fitters). I stumbled upon a local alignment specialist (that is all he does) and he dialled in different settings that improved handling and wear.

If you aren't getting odd wear or dodgy steering then it won't be far out. Still worth getting it checked periodically. Place I use charges a fairly small fee to check it then extra if it needs adjusting. Handy as mine isn't adjustable at the back.

Cheers - Don't think I'll bother this time. As @eskay says probably worth getting a specialist to do it if I'm going to fork out for it. Oddly my bike tyres are costing more than what I'm putting on the car!
