Day 25, swim 2.04 km in 46 minutes, getting into the groove on this exercising every day malarkey.
Weight loss going well, down by 4.5 kg in 3 weeks and I am feeling better as much from the weight loss as the daily exercising, despite no rest days. There's the odd day where I'm knackered after a session, but its usually fixed via food.
Quarter the way through.
Day 25 - short homeworkout app session. Starting to lose motivation as it's getting quite boring. Can't get out on the bike or skates easily during the week cos reasons, makes me realise why I don't exercise regularly normally.
Day 25. Forced myself into an hour of weights/stretching on the living room floor before dinner.
Streak maintained. Just.
Day 25. Out with the running club for the first time in a couple of months. Turned into a wee explore, with a detour up Beinn Ghuilbin (locally known as Kettle Hill). 11km in total, but guess which idiot forgot to start recording on his watch until we were half way round?

After a couple of days of just doing some walks went for a run. Obviously did me some good as legs felt much fresher and I ran quicker than I normally run, although not that quick really
Dear diary,
I am officially a failure.....
"Life" just gets in the way. Sort of managed to get to day 15/16 before properly falling off, but suspect that some of the days prior to that I was pushing my luck with what classed as exercise.
Yesterday was a 100% blowout anyway due to a migraine and I will be travelling Weds/Thurs this week for work so no way I can do anything on those days.
Should get my road bike back next week so will get Zwift up and running, saw someone mention changing the challenge to 100 hours before Xmas, will see what I can do about that as a plan B.
Still walking the dogs 30mins to 1hr per day.
Stronglifts 5x5 still progressing. Last nights figures
Squat 115kg x 25
Overhead press 47kg x 25
Deadlift 110kg x 5
A shade under 9kg weight loss so far.
Hello everyone! I’ve been keeping off STW a bit but thought I’d better put up a bit of a photo dump now we’re a quarter of the way in. I’ll have to split them between two posts probably because of STW’s stupid link limit.
This year has felt more wintery sooner than previous years but I’ve not really struggled so far. Mostly been riding the bike, but I’ve overcooked it a couple of times and did some yoga to rest a bit. I’ve missed one day due to a cold (and had some horrible rides with a cold) but am chipping away at it.
Day 2- 6 or 7 miles on the South West Coast Path

Day 3 – A short road ride on a proper road bike, which is a novelty.

Day 4 – a few hours sea kayaking

Day 7 – 10 miles at sort of TT pace before a day out.

Day 8 – walks and bikes and canoes in a single day

Day 9 – 7 mile hike around the Carrick Roads in Cornwall. Found a genuine turn stile.

Day 13 – 30 miles to work rather than the 4 mile direct route but struggled with illness so not too fast

Day 14 – A mellow gravel ride with my snotty cold. The reservoirs were low enough in the Pentlands to pedal along the beaches instead of the trails.

Day 16 – our 10th wedding anniversary so we repeated our honeymoon trip to Whitby and cycled 21 miles on the old railway line.

Day 22 – Exploring the trails at Braefoot in Dalgety Bay. A load of short fun jump and berm lines next to an oil refinery.

Day 23 – a delightful paddle down the River Tweed, which was pretty high and a bit rapidy.

Day 24 – 25 miles and 5000ft of climbing at Dunkeld riding almost entirely new trails to me.

Day 25 – 30 hard miles on the gravel bike, including a red loop of a trail centre which got a bit wild at times. Starting to feel properly fast again after the cold so I can now put the hammer down a bit to train for the Strathpuffer.

Great photos.
Day 26, overslept this morning, too tired to get on the turbo, or swim before work. Walked round the city of London for 41 minutes at lunch, 3.3 km in 41 minutes, nice to just be out and without this challenge I’d have just carried on working or spent 41 minutes surfing STW.
@munrobiker great pics
Day 26 - surprise night ride as kids decided to go their mum's for the night. Around 8m loop, ish, to the moors. Nice evening with Mrs Fezza
Friday I set out at 23:30 as part of the broom wagon on a local ultra, ended up doing just over 40km overnight and finished at 9:30 the next morning. That was Friday and Saturday done 🙂

Sunday I was volunteering again, this time as another race related to the previous ultra. A short hike up the mountain, then on my feet for 4 hours at a feed station before running back down. Nothing particularly tough but more than enough after the previous day's efforts.

Yesterday was back to normal - a bit of turbo in the garage. And today was a short run with the dog first thing and gym at lunchtime.
Day 25😃,cold ride along the Tees, improved by getting to watch a stork in action.Followed by a stroll around Stockton,to see how the zombies are doing this week.
A weekend on the razzle dazzle in Manchester has meant I'm definitely reaching with this entry but still (colossally tenuously) claiming it. Friday stitched a bit on the bike commute out toward Blengdale, followed by pinballing off every lamp post between piccadilly and Salford. Saturday footgolf (Google it, it's a thing) and probably 20000 'steps' weaving between pubs
Sunday a massively hungover shambles up the fell behind our house at dusk.
Monday a actual run?, but without a liver
Today hit the weights, now having an isotonic recovery can
Oops!
Day 26 and I did an hour of Zone 2 on Strava followed up by 30 minutes of yoga. However, Garmin tells me I'm "Strained", my fitness is decreasing and I need to be doing a bit less. I already have an evening ride planned for tomorrow so I'll have to make sure it's low intensity.
A manic weekend where I had to make do with extended dog walks, which if I’m being honest was probably for the best as I was beginning to feel quite cramped up and fatigued.
Started this week with an hour road ride after work and today the van is in for MOT so I’ve just cycled back from the garage and will hopefully be riding back later to pick it up.
Can’t help feeling I’ve been very lucky with the weather so far!
Still going well here. Saturday 4.5 mile run. Sunday flew to crete after an early start but did a 30 min sea swim in the afternoon. Monday 30 minutes of lengths in the 50m pool including getting rinsed by my 11 year old daughter in a 50m race. She swims for a club and has far better technique than me but I’ve previously been able to beat her with just power, but not now over 50m! Got smashed! Yesterday nice 5k run first thing along the coast. Today hit the hotel gym for an hour, mostly on the bike.
Day 27, turbo session before work - wahoo systm app, 27.7km in 60 minutes. Then lunchtime 3 km 40 minute walk along the river to Tower Bridge.
That's me done for today.
nice pics @blitz
First "night" ride of the season with a couple of mates.
Lovely evening, even if it got a bit chilly (4C) on the way to the pub.

Day 27 - walking around whilst my lad did his footy training, followed by a swift pint in the pub across the road from where he is doing winter training, dangerous that!
Scotroutes I hope you see the irony in your message at top of the previous page, and now being told to slow down 🤣
@keefezza - very aware. I think this is the first time I've had Garmin tracking me so it might be picking up stuff I'd just ignore.
It's great that so many are still onboard with this.
I've modified my goal slightly. It has now become, "The best-part of 100 days exercise before Christmas"
Over the last few days I've managed a couple of decent mtb rides, a 6.5km run, an exercise band session and a few bits of walking.
I live in a hilly area, and I've been struggling a bit with fatigue... so just ordered an E-MTB to pull me through. Hopefully it means I can get out without wrecking myself. Orbea Rise H30 BTW. Cracking deal from Tredz with Blue Light Card discount.
Round 2 of chemo today. Totally wired after being on the steroids for the last 24 hours too. Not a jot of sleep!
More here if interested The blog
Cheers
I could quite happily have stayed in bed this morning until the commute to work (across landing into 'office' 😂). I dragged myself up at 5am and then procrastinated about going for a quick bike ride while watching a programme I'd recorded and having a coffee. In the end I dragged myself off the sofa. It was chilly in the garage, and chillier still once I was out but I'm glad I made the effort. Might go out again this afternoon to enjoy the sunshine while we still have it 🙂
EDIT - and then I read @stanley's posts and think to myself - stop being a wuss. Chapeau sir!
Thanks @fazzini and others,
But I don't have any choice! I probably should sit still occasionally but can't!
And no work for me 🙂
Keep at it everyone.
Some great pictures on here too... I need to relearn how to post some.
Scotroutes, are you finding the Garmin tracking to be helpful and matching how you actually feel?
Never used any sort of tracking like that, and probably won't do, but I am very intrigued to try it and see if it helps at all.
Stanley - it can be hardwork to make the time occasionally but I do what I can even if it's 10 minutes. If pushing myself to get up (and off the phone/ps4) and record progress here contributes to helping others do the same, then that is the very least I can do. You, sir, have a very real battle on your hands and to continue to work towards keeping fit is motivating me hugely. You are an inspiration.
This week was going well with 57 miles on the road bike on Tuesday and 40 miles on Wednesday. This morning I took the gravel bike to the local bike park and had a tumble (after more than 30 mins riding) and have damaged my hand. So no cycling, swimming or SUP for a few days. Looks like I am walking my 30 minutes for a while.
I'm still going with this despite having Covid for the first time last week, managed a 40ish minute walk every day, back on the bike this week which is nice. Legs feel pretty ruined mind!
7k trail running today, here you go Stanley, woodland fell looking up to Coniston old man

Yesterday was a public holiday here, and I got out for a couple of hours of running with a mate. Then spent the rest of the day emptying the kitchen and getting ready for the builders... that definitely counted as a double session!
Today has so far mostly been spent listening to said builders knocking the tiles off. I'll try and get on the turbo later.
Scotroutes, are you finding the Garmin tracking to be helpful and matching how you actually feel?
Never used any sort of tracking like that, and probably won’t do, but I am very intrigued to try it and see if it helps at all.
I find the "body battery" score definitely tracks how I'm feeling. It's also noticeable that if you've had a few the night before your score suffers the next day. It's useful in a couple of ways: if you're trying to decide whether to do a hard session today or tomorrow and see you have a low score, maybe leave it a day. And if you're rarely or never getting to the mid-high 90s then it would be worth revising your lifestyle.
Nice photos above.
Good effort by Stanley - pacing things seems a good plan.
I have got out on the bike a bit this week, yesterday helped with some digging and rock moving for Ride SHeffield on Blackamoor to help water run off on Devil's ELbow. Managed to test ride it today. HAve also fitted in some walking and a trot:
Johhny Gate climb and then Barbrook settling pond on Monday

Looking from top of Blacka Moor over Sheffield today

Day 28 (I think its 28) swim 2 km in 45 minutes this morning. late lunchtime walk with the dog 3.3 km in 46 minutes.
Not too bad, considering I was out at a works leaving do for one of the team last night. First bit of alcohol I've had for about a month. Well actually this morning, it did feel like quite a bit.
Your some bloke @stanley.
Just did an hours walking then 62 minutes at the outdoor gym.Really concentrated effort this time. Beautiful day was a big help.Sat now with a pint of John Smiths for a recovery drink.
Said recovery drink is up 5% since my last visit!😡
You are an inspiration.
This 100%. Such a positive attitude, @stanley, you have my upmost respect!
Got home from work at 4.30 when little Miss Sandboy decided she wanted sausages for dinner. Butchers shuts at 5.00 so I time trialed to get there in time and then took the scenic route home along the river which was very nice.
It’s great to read what everyone is doing, keep on keeping on!
Ignoring all advice to the contrary I set off today on a walk we'd been planning for a couple of weeks. One hour of driving took us to Creag Meagaidh NNR whereupon we set off up into Coire Ardair. Autumn colours looking fantastic.

The path wends it's way uphill for a while.

Eventually, the cliffs of Coire Ardair come into view.

12km walk for a 6 minute dip/swim. Water temp was 7.2C on my watch but still falling as I got out.
An easy day tomorrow I think!
Really beautiful! You are so lucky to be living where you can have experiences like that ^^^
Did a Zwift race this evening, will most likely pay for it tomorrow so an easy day is scheduled in. Haven't missed another day yet so that's only 3 fails so far. Just about on target for 90/100 so hoping to make up ground in preparation for the cold December that will test my commitment!
I’ve modified my goal slightly. It has now become, “The best-part of 100 days exercise before Christmas”
Keep at it @stanley, you've more than once forced me to get out and go for a walk when I wasn't feeling in the mood for it.
Day 28 - thanks to Mrs Fezza I managed to get out to the local skatepark (junction 4) for an inline only night. Normally have the kids Thursday and today was no different but I felt like it was time I did this. Skated for around 2 hours start to finish, though with plenty of rests. Legs and knees won't thank me tomorrow. Possible bike ride on the cards, more probable that I'll go for a walk though.
Day 29, early doors swim 2 km in 47 minutes. Slower than normal, as I felt tired when I got there, Knackered now.
One thing I now know for sure, is I will not be able to complete this challenge whilst still consuming alcohol. One night out played havoc with my recovery.
missed @stanley 's post, top effort and hope the treatment is going well.
@scotroutes stunning scenery where you live.
Thanks to everyone for those positive comments. I can't believe people find me "inspirational" but it feels great to be told, and it really helps keep me going🙂
Just sat down midway through my one-day-after-chemo walk. It's great to just take in the sights and sounds rather than rushing. Time to check in on STW of course!
Day 29.
True to my word, I had an easier day. I took the drone out onto Granish Moor for some flying practice/testing. The recent firmware update includes a "follow me" mode so stuff like this becomes possible.

I'd have stayed out longer but it started pissing down so it was a short/fast spin back home.
This evening it was just a dog walk, but I'm including it as it's not even my bloody dog! 🙂
Day 29 - didn't end up doing any specific exercise but drumming worked a sweat up plus a load of cleaning around the house. Sore knee/hip joints from the previous nights skatepark exploits meant I wanted to rest a bit more.
monday - trying to tweak my commute route up to 30mins each way
tuesday - further tweak and think ive nailled it, but forgot my ID so eventually took me 50mins on the way in
wed - ju jitsu, quite a lot of technical stuff, counters to locks and holds, more hip wheel throws than i can remember
thurs - thursday night bike ride, the woods are starting to soften, some mud, bit chilly
fri - while i failled on my week 4? streak of leaving my desk at 1500...i was delayed past 1600 and still persuaded myself to use the gym before going home, decent session on the xtrainer and then outside for a load of assisted pull-ups
might do a bit of yoga this morning as the days plans seem all over the place......
still have a tab open on this browser for fitness trackers, but always find myself hovering over the buy button for several hundred pounds... maybe after yoga i will browse ebay for something 2nd hand.
