That Ribble looks lovely but why do the dropout welds look so rough when the rest of the welds have been so beautifully filled and smoothed? Is it a structural thing or just not worth bothering with that low down on a bike?

BTW, this is a genuine question, not just a comment on the finish.

My Boardman was the same, the obvious welds were filled while the BB and behind the brake mount was lumpy as.
