You do realise most fans have buttons on to make them oscillate don’t you?

Ah, so that's what that knob does!

@Dangeourbrain couldn't join the meetup as there was no join button on the screen...weird...guess a glitch.

I'll try again tomorrow and do a free ride now

I had a problem with that yesterday. The button appeared just in time to join the Sunday Hills ride and messages didn't work for the first 20 mins or so. I thought everyone was really grumpy and didn't want to talk.

Any plans for a Tuesday evening ride?

Sprint works pretty well - maybe Richmond?

I think you may have been hiding Craig, for some reason you weren't visible in t he list of people riding new York either for about 5 minutes.

Very odd but hey, all good in the end, even if I didn't get my flat start to the day...

Yeah sorry about the steep start, that New York hill is mental, 17% at times. I ended up going up it twice to complete the bagel route. I only picked that route as I couldn't do the meeting and it needed ticking off.

Hopefully the meetup will work tomorrow am....another hilly one!

If nothing else or answered my question as to what the NY KOM was. I'd never figured out what in Central Park would qualify.

One set then for fan flats since I missed my flat ride today.

17.30 for an hour if folks want to stay that long.

Weeksy's winning formula 175-200w group, fast folk up the road no doubt, sprints on alternating laps.

What short hilly one are you planning on? We're on for whole lot of lava at 7am for commute club if you fancy.

Enjoy, is fulgaz another program in its own right then? Is assumed it was just a riding group when it's been posted previously.

Yes Fulgaz is an app in it's own right, it's more solo rides thought they do events everynow and then with a leaderboard. The rides are video's of real rides from around the world, new rides every Tuesday and plenty of hills and mountains 🙂

I've used it for 18 months now, I joined Zwift in May for a bit lockdown variety, I'll run both apps for now as I like bits from both for now, if I have to cut costs I'd drop Zwift, do like the group aspect, adds a different dimension to virtual riding.

My legs are battered but I am still planning to be on tonight's ride 🙂

Thanks again @dangeourbrain for waiting at the end and organising, that was much tougher than it looks and impressive times put down too, not what I'd normally do, great for variety though I would do again.... I think... 🙂

Gary has the green jersey as well which I think you only get if you are fastest out everyone on the Zwift map at that time (so about 1500 people I think) not just those visible in the meet-up so a good effort.

Sand and sequoias in the morning.

Going to have to ditch robbo, I've had a call and got to go into the office this morning.

Hopefully it'll work without my being there as typically its a full house today.

3 out of 4 on the commute this morning Brian, a good pace too, both on the flat and the hills.

Are we going again tomorrow? Yorkshire or is it too hilly? I'm easy wherever.

Well there had to be someone didn't make it, I don't think we're actually allowed 4 of us,it's like crossing the beams or something.

Happy to put one in for Yorkshire tomorrow if people fancy but I'm not sure if I'm going to be on the office yet or not, depends how a few bits go today. Looking 50/50 I'll be in the rest of the week.

Yeh it worked well.

Not sure what it is that normally fractures the group on every bloody climb and sprint normally.....     🤔

I'm pretty sure it's Robbo, but he was tired this morning after yesterday morning and evening.

I mean, to me that was the obvious difference between this morning and other mornings. Heck it's so obvious I can tell even though I wasn't there.

No Brian you weren't missed!! haha only kidding 😉
It all worked fine even without the main man, that gives you an excuse to work / sleep in again tomorrow!

A bit of a constant hill tomorrow for starters but that route has some good up and downs, plus sprints, if the legs feel okay I might go round twice! Not done Yorkshire for a while.

So Sunday hills invites are up a bit earlier than usual this week, 8am on "bigger loop" so big chunk of flat desert, epic KOM, jungle loop then flat to the finish, should be much more conducive to staying as a group than the alpe was last week.

Like you need the help to split the group 😉

Of course, though you may find the dead stop you need to change negates any advantage it might confer.

So long as it's not got any of drp's customary Sunday sausage in it.

Follow me on Zwift (Dangeourbrain stw) and I'll send you an invite (or if you are, tell me your zwift name).

Ugh that was horrible this morning! Who suggested Yorkshire?? 🤔

So many tech issues, no join button but luckily it auto selected with a few minutes to go so I let it join. Then on the ride my app kept freezing and I couldn't communicate with you all.

I felt like I was chasing you to catch up all the way round, doing 400w at times, everytime I caught up I dropped again. I should have concentrated on riding rather than faffing with my app.

Hopefully better tomorrow. At least Robbo joined us...sort of 😁

Not just me with issues then! I ignored the first join meetup button as it was too early to join (about 7 mins out) but then it disappeared completely. If I was using the iPad it would have been OK but on the laptop it takes ages to restart. I found you on course and managed to get a ride out of it.

I'm not doing the morning one as I have a big lunchtime workout planned.

yeah good to see robbo joining in anyway, even if he did just shoot off up the road on the first bit of hill 😉

That route always feels harder than it should, like someone realised we have extra draggy tarmac and programmed that in when they built the course.

London loop tomorrow - not sure if I've done it before as the height gain to distance suggests a bit of a hill and I don't really recall any.

Ah yeah, one thing I learned fairly quickly on Zwift is never cancel anything. It does puzzle me the interface is so pants.

I spawned about 5-10 seconds behind on a hill and thought I had no chance of catching up but gave it a go anyway so went for it with a sprint. Caught you quicker than I thought and by the time the turbo slowed down I had shot past! Oh well - still got a decent workout.

I use an Elite Direto but it seems to take ages to spin down. I hardly ever get into super tuck as it is always spinning and takes an age to stop and put out no power.

Strange that cos I have a direto too and have no problem with getting into aero tucks, not straight away but nothing excessive either.

Yeah after previous issues I've learnt to just let it auto select even if its 5 minutes out to the meetup...otherwise I can't join

Box hill on that route. Nothing too bad, 5% most of the way up for about 9 or 10 minutes.

Yeh calibration is fine on it. Would guess it is about 10-15 seconds to spin down.

I'll try mine on the next significant hill and see how long it takes to tuck.

I'd guess my drivo takes about 10 seconds to spin down which isn't far off what I'd expect from an actual wheel. the problem is that zwift seems to take the power reading, not 0 cadence, to mean you're not pedaling.

Box hill on that route. Nothing too bad, 5% most of the way up for about 9 or 10 minutes

Ah that sounds doable for a morning pootle.

On an unrelated note, has anyone got any idea where I might get some sort of stand for my fork instead of using the front wheel without spending a few hundred quid on a kickr climb which seems to solve a problem I don't think exists?

It would be a handy space saving.

Hope would switching the usual Sunday hills ride to Saturday this week suit folks?
Weather here is due to be atrocious on Saturday and I've a few garden bits I need to try getting done that is rather not be doing in a thunder storm.

I hardly ever get into super tuck as it is always spinning and takes an age to stop and put out no power.

My Zumo did that, I think the flywheel was warped, unstable which made it think that I was still pedalling. The kickr core puts me into supertuck way earlier.

You can quick a quick release of ebay and make your own stand from some 4 x2 or similar.

On the hills everyone usually takes their own pace either alone or in a bunch, then we all usually group at the top again, no one gets left behind 😉

On this route there is no radio tower at the top of the KOM...which is probably a good thing!

Saturday or is then - I've deleted the previous and created new - seemed a bit mean to just change the existing one in case it took some folks off guard!

Just to add to that though, if anyone wants or needs a tow there is always one available, we try not to leave anyone struggling up solo generally.

Tentative for Saturday I am attempting a couple big virtual climbs tomorrow and might not have the legs for another hill session Saturday, I'll see how I feel tomorrow night, probably won't be on Zwift much rest of month as I am doing a virtual event on my other App which is 12 rides over 12 days, may do some rides consecutively if I do it will free some time for other rides.

A bit post apocalyptic on the virtual commute this morning...london was empty! Dangeourbrain and me had the whole city to ourselves, I didn't see another rider.

I'm guessing not 12mi rides either...

Enjoy, if that's the word.

No zombies though, except maybe my legs. I'm just glad there was a reasonable run in to the hill or I genuinely would have had to get off and push.

@dangeourbrain think it's a mix but ave length is 16 odd miles varying degrees of climbing but it's meant to be a race.

I am going to try and double some of them up to make time for other stuff.

I will enjoy it on reflection I think 🙂
