Back to work today so evenings are out again.
I'll be on the weekend ride though if one happens, this weekend was too hectic with DIY.

I did get an invite from Rob - ta - but didn’t do any Zwifting (or anything inside) this weekend. Back on it now. Could I get an invite for the 1845 this evening...

It's late for me too, but was trying to do it so people who are working had time to play.

I'm not in this week as trying to recover as committed a few people to the WTRL TTT on Thursday and don't want to be the weak link after a ridiculous weekend of Zwift riding.

At I can't make tonight's main event I've created a leisurely 35km ride on RGT if anyone else fancies a spin at 1700hrs.

4 laps of the rolling Pienza circuit, I'm planning on going very steady but you feel free to do you if you fancy pushing the pace.

So my experiment with RGT is over, did my leisurely ride round Pieza and it's just a bit weird.

Technically it's better than zwift, the physics are better, the graphics are better, the group ride and race functions are much slicker and the user interface is much better but it just doesn't seem to gel.

The graphics are more realistic - yay! But still not realistic enough to be immersive whereas Zwift's cartoony graphics seem more real by not trying to be real if that makes sense?

There's the lack of other riders which is a bit of a chicken and egg scenario so I can't say that's too much of an issue.

Route options are limited despite the magic roads function which needs much better explanation.

What is obvious though is how dull the terrain is. Again, by going for realism in terms of landscape etc there's nothing really that interesting to look at whereas on zwift there's loads going on even if you don't consciously notice it.

I think when they first started they paid too much attention to people who said they wanted zwift but more realistic and with real climbs and not enough attention was given to understanding why zwift is so popular.

It's a shame because they could be a genuine alternative but I just can't see it happening without some serious changes.

Minecraft is like that, much remarked upon - it can look beautiful and feel immersive at times despite the graphics being primitive. Something to do with forcing your brain to fill in the gaps creating a different (and better) visual experience.

Anyone else set up for steering and able to use the Repack Ridge route - had my first go today and it's quite good fun, even if a bit short. Having to concentrate on steering does feel a bit weird after all this time just turning the pedals, but if a few people have the option to ride this route, we could have a little meetup on it?

1st one I've made, that was fun but painful. It's reset my FTP for me after that last lap despite doing a ramp test yesterday morning.

I've used the steering on repack ridge, found I had to turn the sensitivity right down to work well but once I did that it was a bit of a giggle. Would be nice to be able to spawn nearer to it.

I think Weeksy was having turbo flame-out issues. I couldn’t really read the messages towards the end as my eyeballs were burning 😉

Fairly spicy that last 10 mins.  I mean it’s not a race or anything. But if it was, I think I won 🙂

🙂 I did nothing. In fact apart from a short ride Sunday, I’ve done nothing all weekend.

I nearly gave up 2 mins out. If it had been anyone else but you with me Dave, I would have!

Yep that last 15mins got a bit racey 😀

I had to do a big chase back to the front group as just as Weeksy left my kids came in to say goodnight and I lost the group lol

thanks for organising - i had connectivity issues which cost me 20 mins but I fixed it an rode for an hour - still not sure how the race finishes.

Is it possible to see the other riders times and stats once the race is finished?

Till the next one

Definitely. I’m a danger to myself. Not sure getting a FTP upgrade and a new Max HR is terribly responsible. Next one I’m staying in the pack!

@jaminb - you should see a bar counting down to 00:00 at the top of the screen. So the riding finishes wherever you when it hits that. Then there’s a graphic with the meet-up name and the time. If you didn’t get that, you probably dropped out of the meet-up.

Not a Zwift expert but I don’t think you can see any stats as it’s not a a ‘race’ or one of the club events.

Nice riding with you all today, especially fun as things sped up towards the end. Just a shame Weeksy wasn't with us for the whole session, must be very frustrating for him.

Thanks for organising it Weeksy. My first STW group ride and really enjoyed it. Definitely be back to do another when shifts allow. I’ll have to make sure I’m wearing the right top next time. Which one is it ?

When trying a spindown I hit 0w. Then couldn't get FE-C at all. So tried just using the snap setting but every 20s or 30s I got 0w and lost pace, then ok for a few mins then dropout again. Ended up losing 3s on group and had the power to get back but every time I tried, it did it again and again!

sounds like I missed another fast one. Ended up doing a bit of Richmond on my own but wasn't feeling it so stopped after just after 20 minutes. Suffering from the hay fever I think. Probably for the best I didn't make the STW ride

I just missed the start due to pairing issues (seems to take ages on my MacBook compared to iPad) left it to late really, next time!

Oh Jesus! That was a fruity one tonight.

It didn't start off too fast, but all of a sudden it went nuts. I hung with a group for about 10 mins, but had to call it a day....group was among others A Atkinson, LJ, C Hudson, R (Robbo1234?), Tunstall......

As soon as the pace went up, I was struggling - I blame the 15km run I did on Sunday...!

Nights are getting warmer & lighter, so it feels like I should reduce the Zwift action & actually get out riding. But - Zwift is good fun & definitely it's much easier to push harder when there are people around you.

I'll see if I can get my issues resolved tomorrow and sort another for Thurs or Fri. Not seen this issue with losing FEc so a bit strange

Once I lost the wheel on the incline into the trees on the 2nd lap the front group pulled the gap out fairly fast. But it was a good group with stumpy and co. I did find it a little hard to keep track of myself in the group at times and kept finding myself either falling back or drifting off the front a bit too much.

When I started today my trainer felt far too easy. So I paused, did a quick spin down, and everything seemed better. Had to ditch a little early so missed all the crazy stuff of the last 15 mins. Looking forward to the next one.

My ANT+ issues the other week were dodgy USB ports on the front of the computer. They've done it before but have been fine for 12 months.
