@oopnorth cool, yeah, I'll just do MTB. Swapped before for the STW race & it was fine, but I was on iPad then & am now on Apple TV... almost 100% guaranteed to go wrong or lose a boat load of time as the controller is so awkward!
Think I'll go for the 1800 race with Brian... May see you?
Just means I can chill on the sofa sooner!
DrP
I'll be on the TdZ A at 18.00
Will look forward to it. I'll probably jump on discord if anyone fancies saying hello/listening to me grunt/say what ever the exact opposite of "shut up legs is"
I'm going to do the 1800
Have a good one guys!
Nice... right...
I've got discord on the phone...
Headphones connected to the pc though...
How do I see text on the phone?
DrP
Assuming you're in the app and on the right channel it should just be there

Did you have a drop out or something Phil?
Cheers for the ride folks. That was good/awful.
Did you have a drop out or something Phil?
No - I was waiting for you two, but you just blasted past me!!!
Learnt a new trick tonight - if you join the meetup as soon the button comes up with 30 mins to go you get a place at the front of the pen. You can then end the ride and leave Zwift. Restart zwift and then do your warm up in the normal world or by using a a workout in erg mode.
When you go back into the normal zwift world for your warm you will get the Join Meetup icon on the left still with the countdown. Do your warm up and then join the meetup again with a couple of mins to go and you will go back to the original place when you joined when the meetup from the previous session at the front of the pen. Did it tonight on the TdZ event with 100s of riders and went back in right at the front and led on the road for about 10 seconds (out of 1100 riders total!)
Eek.. sorry Phil... I noticed you were there as we were pacing past!
So my video has no sound! Sorted that now!
But... it's funny to watch the MTB trounce all the road bikes...I casually start at 750th... stay there until the gravel, then chuckle to myself as I make up about 600 places!

@Phil56 oops sorry about that. I didn't actually see you until I was about level on the road then you vanished off the list behind.
With so many riders it's really hard to figure out who anyone is. On the run in on the final lap Ian was mostly the man in front on my list but actually not visible on the road. Loads of people we were lapping (no idea how that happened) visible but not on the list. It's actually a bit annoying!
Even when I was riding in your group on the first lap I couldn't actually see you half the time, the bunch was a bit too big to keep you on the list then riders and names vanished at random.
I get why they reduced the rendering and the like but it would have made sense to prioritise people on your follow/favourites list over complete randoms when you're all within a few m of each other.
Was a good ride though, a touch under 10min longer than race 1 but a full lap extra. I didn't blow up*, good average power for a tiny bit over an hour and felt like of worked for it but not buried myself. Feel like I'm actually getting some fitness back, now if I can just shift some Christmas flab.
*least ways not until afterwards.
Any plans for Saturday morning?
In the absence of any then does anybody fancy Surrey Hills, or is everybody saving themselves for support runs up the alpe on Sunday?
I plan to ride Saturday at some point, but not sure when exactly. I am planning to do a run up the Alpe on Sunday, so probably not Surrey hills for me as it would kill my legs. I was thinking a possible Muir and the Mountain as I've not done it for a while.
Is muir and the mountain more hilly than Surrey hills?
M and M is essentially one long climb up the radio tower.
Surrey Hills has more elevation in total, but split over 4 separate climbs.
We rode it one weekend before Christmas @kirky72 (I'm pretty sure you were there) - Brian organised the meetup, 21/11. It's a superb course, and it goes up the radio tower so whatever elevation you are chasing it'll surely satisfy you?
I'm planning to avoid the radio tower...just up the KOM at a normal pace. I don't need the badge so can detour as needed.
I'm mostly doing it cos I fancy the reverse Titans grove and a sedate KOM
Full Muir is about 700m elevation, Surrey hills is 1000m more or less
Struggling to find the Discord link for Sunday’s ride, I’ve local bike club ride Saturday and I need to do a challenge ride I do on the other app, which means I’ll have tired legs for Sunday so that will help and I would like to try and do two laps will see how it goes.
Anyone else want to join in this race tomorrow lunchtime? Earn yourself a few beers whilst watching the rugby?

Weeksy and I are entered at the moment. Can use discord if you want to enter the C cat and try some tactics - maybe attempt a breakaway on lap 3 or something?
I'm in for the 12:30 short dolphin crit today as well actually. Tomorrow is more open to debate depending on how things go with plans i have to collect the wifes motorbike.
But today, i'm deffo in for the 12:30.
Not being one to race in general I do find myself curious today for some reason. Belting headache presently so not imminently interested. Need to collect the full sus bike today so that's two reasons.
I take it Crit Races are short sharp and nasty efforts trying to keep near but not at the front?
I'm planning to go outside tomorrow robbo, going a bit stir crazy staring at the same four walls (and screen) all day every day!
is there a ride sundat morning?
only a short one 🤣is there a ride sundat morning?

The ULTIMATE Sunday Hills!!
DrP
Technically it is just one hill your just riding it a lot of times!
I'm going to have to stop watching this thread...I keep wanting to join races which is a big NO this weekend 🙁

Yup, todays C race at 12:30 will be sub 20 mins and around 270w
another fasted ride this morning steady plod of greatest London with the only big effort coming up Box hill. Its so much harder with no food since the evening before but just trying to cut a little weight.
Afterwards I made a little footage of the Pedivella rocker plate in action for those that showed an interest.
its still early days having only done a few 30 mile rides and Tuesdays race whilst using it. I would say so far it feels like you might lose some power as it feels somewhat softer when putting down bigger watts however I'm pretty sure there is no loss. saddle pressure could be a little less but honestly its difficult to tell with so many variables from one ride and week to the next. The feeling is quite nice and there's not to much sway action especially when seated, a bit more when stood and really cranking it hard.
product wise, the finish is quite nice but the cut out shape isn't totally symmetrical which may upset some with ocd tendencies. I'm not sure if this uses the same mechanics as they sell sets of, it looks pretty basic from a quick view but without taking it apart I have no idea whats inside the squashy parts. There's no way to make firmer or softer without going DIY style and adding balls or foam. however I don't think it needs forming up. at least not for my weight at 79/80kg plus bike and trainer.
Hopefully I will be doing a longer ride towards the end of next week so may get a better idea of its effects on saddle soreness.
Ps no travel or sea sickness feelings. Only came close to honking at the finish line on Tuesdays race.
Looks interesting @kirky72 thanks for sharing. In all do you think it's been a benefit and worth the change? I realise it's still early days.
Really is too early to make a worthwhile assessment but if for £90 it proves a little more immersion and results in only 10 to 20% reduction in but ache it would be worth it.
Tomorrow pm no longer works for me due to a delay
@DrP Sunday what time you starting and is it just look for you on zwift to ride with to reduce your boredom?
@karnali I think that's basically the plan, he's running a stream which is linked in the other thread so you can be sure not to grab him part way up the climb out something but pretty much just join in when it suits I think. He's headed off at 6.45 first rep should be about 1.30 then 1.15 or so there after if he's keeping his planned pace
Cheers Brian..
Yup, that's the plan...
Starting at 0645.. warm up heading towards the Alpe, then off we go!
All things working well, you can see where I am on the live stream, and then join in if you fancy!
Ideally use the zwift chat and/or discord I guess...!
DrP
Just ridden Quatch Quest and took 3 jerseys
Titans Grove
Epic KOM
Alpe Du Zwift
This is entirely a reflection of my climbing prowess, defo nothing to do with the Zwift freaking out at the start and m being the only person on Zwift.
Nice quiet roads 🙃
I’m eyeing up the Mega Pretzel tomorrow as part of the Fondo series.
Longest I’ve done on the trainer previously is just shy of two hours, after which it was no longer all that comfortable. So we’ll see how this goes. Feels like it’d be about four hours maybe?
We did the Mega pretzel as a meet-up and I think I finished in just over 4 hours. Should be a decent group on a fondo which should help to push the pace up. Good luck!
I still need aquatics quest apparently even though I’m sure we did it as group ride but my badges say not.
So I’m going to do that in the morning I think and I’ll try to time the alpe part of it to coincide with one of DrPs ascents.
anybody else want to do the full thing starting either 8.30 or 9 give us a shout and I’ll set it up as an meet up.
@kirky72 fancy making it Sunday Hills next week?
I need the badge too but going to join DrP for a couple around other plans tomorrow.
